And this, of course, will result in a lowering of taxes that people pay to offset the increase in prices the manufacturers will have to impliment right?



Bawwwwhhhaaaa, not likely.

Sounds very Green Shift like.

It is the correct way of doing it. As of now, the responsibility is put on the Taxpayer to pay for decisions made by the Manufacturer.

Of course with this new program the burden shifts from the taxpayer, to the manufacturer to the consumer. Which means in the end the same people who were paying for the program in the first place are still paying for it.
What I don't understand is here in Victoria I pay a private company to pick up my garbage and recycling. They do not charge for the recycling pick up (only garbage pick up) because the company (Alpine) makes money off the recyclables. How come a private company is doing for free what a municipality charges for?
