When I went there last time the Mohawks had good cause. Now, it's just a bunch a punks who happen to be native. If it wasn't such a historical flashpoint I'd say find the pricks but as it stands it just isn't worth it. Here's hoping the elders know what way the breeze is blowing and give these young hooligans a serious reality check if they haven't already.

"This past spring, a massive police raid at three different Quebec Mohawk reserves -- including the Kanesatake reserve -- netted $2.5 million in cash and a large firearms cache, including three grenade launchers."

Woah...holy shit what happened here? RPGs? What were they planning on doing?

How's about we open our own version of Gitmo on the north end of Baffin Island. These are clearly terrorists, as are the American Mohawks supplying them with this shit.

RPG's? Shit you ain't seen nothin. They had a Huey with all the fixin's tryin to air lift them out last time. A lot of Mohawks are Viet vets and since the boarder straddles the US boarder you get a lot of die hards there that have had their hand in killin. Most of the time the french are spoilin for a fight with them so I would not be to eager to side with the French vs them to quick.

True but an over reaction will spiral more violence. It's one thing to have the local keystone cop french police that have a history of corruption and racism pick on them, it's a whole new conflict if we get OPP on side as well. Then it's Canada vs natives and although tactically we would win but everyone would be losers once the dust settles.

True enough but it gets more that a bit frustrating when the Natives once again manipulate the media into putting across the illusion that they are all innocent and pure while the government (i.e. big bad whitey) in once again made into the evil-doer. Anyone outside the CBC, the NDP, and their fellow travellers in the universities knows that the exact opposite is true. The Natives are as expert at manipulation and corruption as anyone else, except they get a free pass on it thanks to their skin colour and a dumbed-down culture that's gotten too good at not asking any hard questions.

Not to be too racist about it but it sure would be satisfying to see the RCMP tac squads or the army go in and stomp a mudhole and walk it dry on some Native mafia ass.

It's that tit for tat attitude that spawned the Oka crisis to begin with or do you think it's OK to have a golf course on burial ground? I'm quite sure that the young warriors involved in this 'pit party' were by all other aspects nothing more than petty thugs but you have to be senseless to think the abuse does not flow both ways.
