me either, in parts of Ont the local school board stopped teaching about Canada's victories in war because it was considered to offensive to immigrants.

Funny, I thought they come to Canada to BE CANADIAN not bring their baggage with them.

And I say that as an immigrant myself.

I wave no other flag.

Sad when the school systems are so far left leaning they won't even teach HISTORY

I wouldn't get too upset though, polls and surveys can be twisted to make any point you want to make. as soon as I see "survey finds" or "polls suggest" I already disregard the article.

That's utter crap. The Ontario curriculum clearly covers Canadian military history. If it wasn't taught, a teacher made that call and that was in violation of curriculum expectations.

Sorry, the current curriculum was a Tory implementation and it does cover WWI, WWII, Korea, Peace Keeping, etc.

Harris you mean? ;) It hasn't changed much, if at all, since he was in. Unless the teachers just decided to not teach about Korea.

They don't like saying anything in class that might be seen as negative about Chairman Mao or the Soviet Union so it stands to reason that they avoid discussing the Communist devastation and enslavement of Korea as much as they can.

Strangely enough none of them seem to be in too much of a hurry to move to North Korea though. I thought those People's Paradise's had everything a good fellow traveller could ever hope for. Interesting contradiction eh?

In some ways that's to bad. If education was centralized all the kids would get the same shot at a quality education, or, they'd all be equally illiterate, which ever way you want to look at it.

But the point here is that they'd be equal and no one would be shit out of luck because they came from a province with inadequate funding or teacher qualifications.

Education is provincially run, in Sask they suspended much of Canada's war history as being to imposing on immigrants. It didn't last long, but for two years there was a definite lack of Canadian history being taught to...Canadians.
