[cheer]

'Santa' is the symbol of 'Retail run amok'. Fortunately, more and more people are opting out of this aspect of Christmas and getting back to the true meaning of Christmas.

Liberals demonstrate a belief in Santa Claus every time they use "free" health care.

Liberals believe in many of questionable notions.

However when US/Canadian union is seriously discussed the sticking point is generally the maintainance of Canada's universal health care.....this unanimously crosses all political stripes. It is perhaps the one aspect of Canadian society which is popular to all.

Well the Grinches and Scrooges have had their say. I think it is time to get this back in keeping with true feeling at hand. If I may I will offer my humble opinion.

I still believe in Santa! Don't you? Wouldn't the world be a better place if everybody did?

Although I do not believe in him as I did as a wide-eyed child, my belief has shifted to the "Santa" in us all. It manifests itself in many ways.

Firstly there is the wonder of the season. The moment into the holidays you find yourself humming\singing the Christmas songs and not minding the sound of it everywhere you go. The moment you find yourself admiring the displays and lights set up to brighten the dark feelings that start to seep into our hearts & minds after a long trying year. The smile that involuntarily spreads across your face, when you walk by a Christmas castle set up to greet kids cued up to see "The Big Guy".

Then and probably the more telling part is how we all become Santa. The time you take to find the gift that will be the most fitting for that special person or if you are lucky enough all the special people on your list. Taking the time to wrap it just so, with ribbons curled just right. Even though you know it will be torn asunder in anticipation of the treasure inside.

Then there is when we give the donation to those lest fortunate, or give time to serve a cause that needs some extra manpower this time of year. The feeling of doing that gives a boost that would easily power a team of reindeer & sleigh full of toys across the sky.

YES I BELIVE in Santa. We all have it in ourselves to be “The Man Himself” if we share the feeling of the season. If we let ourselves smile a little more, give a little more and care a little more. We all can believe, and if we all believe perhaps we can find the way to make it continue into the coming year. Until we all hear the first notes of a Christmas chorus come around again.

Merry Christmas and to all a Good New Year!

Since when is Health care in Canada free?

I guess it is if you don't pay taxes.

Free health care was never the intention of even Tommy Douglas and co. It was always intended to be affordable health care. That's why it's so fukt right now, over use and abuse.

well its free if you base what you pay in the payroll tax base and do the math as to the cost of treatment or surgery.. say a bipass or hip or treatment of (for you smokers) cancer ..... pretty cheap.. i would say... almost free....
