There's no 'social acceptability' for one red fucking cent to make it's way from the prairies to Quebec in "equalization" payments.

This is kinda what I am talking about... Doesn't want our oil, but totally wants our money. This is what pisses us off. This is why some of us want to leave. Can't have it both ways... Equalization should be contingent on us getting the pipelines built. Want our money? help us get our product to market.

We have any members from, or formerly from Quebec that can chime in and explain this attitude?

Our finance minister used car salesman Bill Morneau said there is no magic bullet to Alberta's oil problem.

I would suggest a bullet with a calibre of approximately 48".

There's something about primarily speaking French that seriously impairs rationality and perspective in people. It has almost as detrimental an impact on thought processes as does Arabic.

Sorry but the problem isn't the pipeline or, despite their often assholish like attitude towards anything from western Canada, Quebec.

Quebec may have stopped the pipeline but it wouldn't have made one bit of difference in the grand scheme of things. The real villain here is the corporate welfare recipient Irving's who have publicly stated they're not going to buy Canadian no matter if a pipeline is built or not.

https://business.financialpost.com/comm ... goes-ahead

So, until the Federal Gov't imposes tariff's on the Saudi's Blood Oil to make it alot less competitive these parasites will continue to ignore Alberta Oil in favour of the much sweeter 12th Century cult's product or, even American crude for that matter.

So the simple fix is to impose tariff's on the Saudi's oil and claim it's because they keep refusing to address their human rights issues. Trudeau comes out looking like he's actually standing up for human rights, Alberta get's it's oil to market and the Irving's still get to keep their billions of dollars profit in their tax free offshore accounts.

It'd be a win win situation for everyone but the assholes in the House of Saud. [cheer]

You're dreaming. If the Feds put a 25% tariff on Saudi oil, Easterners would just end up paying $1.999/L for gas and Irving would still NOT buy Alberta oil. The public would simply whine a lot more. Vancouverites have already proven this business model.
MOF they're now running on $15 a barrel Alberta oil, paying a dime a liter less for gas and thinking what a great deal they're getting.
We're not Chinese, can't think long term. Hell six months is too long term for most Canadians.
