I remember her in Halifax. I was on board her briefly in Montreal, just for a visit. Is she the last of the DDHs?

It was on as a live internet feed, this afternoon. The explosions were surprisingly sharp and loud.

Given how fast it sank, does that correlate to how fast they'd sink in combat?

They spent years perforating the hull and all of the MANY watertight compartments in her so that she would sink. One of the earlier attempts, with a vessel almost identical to Annapolis out on the East Coast, the Saguenay, didn't go down and she floated half submerged in Lunenburg harbour for several days.

They are meant to not sink easily and it takes considerable effort to prapare them so that they do.

I'm an army guy but there is something sad about watching an old war ship sinking. Even when it's contributing to improving the sea life in the area. :?

No, unless of course you cut that myriad of holes in her hull before departing for a Naval Engagement then all bets would be off because you'd sink at the first swell you hit anyway.

Or have the living shit shot out of her by ships that were far less capable than she was.
