We're not allowed customized tags in Quebec. Tags can only have three format types: three digits followed by three alphabetic characters, or three alphabetic characters followed by three digits, or 1 alphabetic character, followed by two digits, followed by three alphabetic characters.
We can however call up the various department of motor vehicle outlets (called SAAQ in Quebec), to obtain a tag with a specific serial number, and/or set of characters that respect one of the three format types. For example, the tag "123 KID" is legal. So is the "XXX 000" tag. Problem is that most of the good tags that fall into the required format are already taken. Lots of Porche owners here have 911 included on their license plate. Not sure though if any sex or swear words are banned?
