DerbyX DerbyX:
I think you are just a tad bit biased.

I am. Getting shot at by Soviet and Cuban troops will do that.

DerbyX DerbyX:
The US was no angel and quite frankly with Patton openly saying what he did if I were Stalin I'd have thought the US would have kept right on going past Berlin too.

Patton saw the Russians as the imperialists they were. Bear in mind that in 1939 the Russians had embarked on two separate imperialist adventures by invading Poland and Finland and Patton saw the bastards solidifying their gains at the end of WW2 when they should have been pushed back to their pre-war borders.

DerbyX DerbyX:
Face it. 50 years of cold war could have been avoided if Russia & America didn't act like complete pricks.

Tell that to an Eastern European.

Take a loooong look at the US and their imperialism. The US is just as guilty as them.

Will we say that when we ignore all the evidence of us putting into power a group of crazies in Libya?

I know eh? Good golly, it's a good thing we didn't see any of this coming or else we mightn't have bothered going into Bosnia in defense of the muslims there.

Know how many here think we went in on the wrong side?

Should I give a shit?

That depends. Do you have a lower rumbling in your intestines? Do you feel the need to expand your sphincter? If so then the answer is probably yes.

Yea, Derby, who's side are you on? It seems to me you were all for the Soviets and Bin Laden, or are you just looking to argue for arguments sake?

MY side? I'm not Mr C. MY side is a country that was digging our selves out of debt while being protected bu you guys running massive deficits.

I've said this before. You like to say the US cleverly tricked the USSR into bankruptcy yet seem oblivious that the reason why Russia & China say very very little about your terror adventures is because they are sitting back watching you guys do what they probably couldn't.

4 Trillion dollars to get a diabetic old man? He might just claim victory.

Sometimes I play devils advocate. Some times I simply point out obvious ironies.

We were on the side of islamic extremists in Afghinstan to fight the US. Now were are on their side fight islamic extremists in Chetchnya.

You were a UK soldier during a time when your government was very much an ally of Pinniochet. The US supported Mubarack in Egypt and since MG made nice we have pretty much supported him until the chance to arm Al Qaeda came along.

People are asking "just who the hell's side is the west on"?

Who's side am I on? I quote Peter Strauss's character wolf in Spacehunter, adventures in the forbidden zone

"My side".

As was my comment on you coming up with a better idea in the West's battle against the Soviet Union.

A better solution? How about recognizing that we had no need to wage a cold war at all.

Time and again the historical record showed that the USSR was just as afraid of fighting us as we were of them. The record showed that they had far less warheads back during the Cuban missile crisis days then we thought and they weren't as much trying to provoke us but to send a message about us surrounding them with missiles (ie we started removing the ones in Turkey after that).

You yourself said that Soviet equipment was far inferior during the cold war, a fact they probably knew and as such would not have waged open war with us.

I'd say my solution would have been finding commonality in living on this planet rather then a fear of who was going to strike first.

Wow, what colour is the sky in your world??

I don't understand how one could be both for the Soviet Union and Bin Laden.

I would not accuse Derby of being for the Soviets and bin Laden, he's just anti-American even when we're right.

[
$1:
JAY CARNEY, WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY: Bin Laden's wife rushed the US assaulter and was shot in the leg but not killed. Bin Laden was then shot and killed. He was not armed.

Hmmm I guess we have to look at who Carney got his info from. Would it be safe to assume that someone other than those "lying special ops guys" was on hand to witness the events?

WTF? None of the Navy Seal guys are even known, never mind having said anything. Carney is the White House press secretary and anything he says is approved by the President.

My guess is that original attempts to aggrandize the whack--and that's what this was, a whack--seem to have been wisely scuttled. In this digital age it doesn't do to fabricate when there's so many cameras around everywhere.

Some people seriously unhinged from reality on that site.

dummyMuslim dummyMuslim:
I seriously doubt they killed him. They didn't kill him at all but it was a very very serious military operation against Pakistan on some unknown targets, perhaps to give this message to Pakistan that America can attack their nuclear installations

To give the message that the US could attack Pakistan nuclear facilties? No message required buddy--rest assured teh US could take out Pakistans nucelar faciltiies in about 40 seconds.

Jesus I want to wash my hands after reading that forum.

Well, aside from (occasionally) Derby and that idiot who's cut off the flow of blood to his brain by having his hockey helmet on way too tight I really don't think that this applies to too many other posters.

The main objection among most of us right now appears to be the way the war was mishandled and then unjustifiably expanded by the Bush Administration, i.e. the Iraq portion of it.
