Has anyone seen that Family Guy episode with the sovereign state of Petoria?

Don't you hate in when foreign governments like the US try to push around independent states who have their right to self determination. It's time for the good people of the sovereign state of Nevada to show their patriotism.

You don't know what you're talking about Delwin. Family Guy, believe it or not, is not reality.

In the real world there is such a thing as state rights. It's an actual thing with actual substance in law.

Meanwhile, the second Fort Hood shooting didn't even rate a single topic on CKA.

You were always free to create that thread if you wanted to. No one here was going to stop you. Considering a mass shooting is now a daily occurrence in your country, and that some soldier with PTSD blowing up is hardly that much of a surprise anymore, it would clog the entire board if every single incidence of American gun violence got it's own separate thread.

OK, we've established that state laws exist. They are a real thing.

Would you go one further and admit that federal laws exist? Even when there is a Democrat in the house?

I saw this guy make this statement on Hannity's show. Apparently he doesn't know which century he's in

His personal grievance with federal authority doesn't stop with the BLM, though. "I believe this is a sovereign state of Nevada," Bundy said in a radio interview last Thursday. "I abide by all of Nevada state laws. But I don’t recognize the United States government as even existing."

'Recognize' also means 'to acknowledge'.

The United States government does not recognize the governments of Cuba or the Republic of China as existing.

Just because your grasp of the English language is lacking is not grounds to mock those who paid attention in grammar school.

Ok. Maybe I'm missing some of the subtleties in the statement: I don’t recognize the United States government as even existing."

So your argument is that there is a huge semantic point to be made in that he only stated that he didn't "recognize" that they didn't exist. He didn't say he didn't "acknowledge" that they exist.

OK I will be the first to admit that perhaps this guy is able to acknowledge that which he does not recognize. Kind of like"I know it's there, I just don’t know what it is." Perhaps you have a valid semantic argument there.

I still don't see how that helps his cause. Except maybe strengthening the case for Obamacare ?

Having been studying for an state licensing exam the past two weeks and only reading about this situation now; I am abandoning all hope of finding an objective overview of the facts. Though it sounds like the local and federal public agencies are glad they finally get to use the military-grade toys the DHS gave them.

Since we are arguing semantics, we are all clear on what sovereign state of nevada means right?

Here's another definition for you:
1. the offense of acting to overthrow one's government or to harm or kill its sovereign.
2. a violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or to one's state.

I'm not sure how you propose killing all 300,000,000+ American citizens.

Not sure but evidently some people believe that their will supercedes the will of 300,000,000 Americans. Seems there's not much the people can do about it.

Even as an American, it's amazing what people will see as "good" public disobedience and "bad" public disobedience.

It's a shame Mr. Bundy didn't wear a three-corner hat or call his stand #OccupyNevada.

Yeah true, although the automatic weapons may have proven to be a dead give away.

I haven't seen anything to suggest that the protesters had automatic weapons, though if you have a source for that I'd like to see it.
