No one is saying they don't work hard, and yes they deserve to make a living wage. But does a living wage mean that they deserve a plasma TV, a luxury car, an expensive vacation? No. I worked hard for what I had. I didn't come from a rich family, just a regular middle class one. Yet, I took advantage of an education, made sacrifices, invested wisely and now I reap the rewards.

Sure it does. In a competitive market your wage will equal your productivity. If you have marketable skills and abilities you can earn a higher wage.

That's absolutely wrong. If nobody wanted to be a ditchdigger, and ditches required digging, then the wages of ditchdiggers would rise. People would want to become ditch diggers. Working on the Alberta oil rigs isn't a glamourous job, but the pay is great. Hence, people are tripping over themselves to work there.

It is you who is advocating looking at an individual and "deciding" what they deserve to make, rather than determining their worth based on an objective measure like the value of what they produce.
