Yes, I agree with that.

Muslims who religiously follow the abrogated texts of Islam do do despicable things. If somebody tells me they don't, I'll tell them they're incorrect. Not only do they do them. They do them under claim of authority of their religion. If you believe in the concept of abrogation they are correct to believe that claim.

Jihadis have followed the commands of Mohammed in the abrogated texts to spread out and kill the infidel or enslave him under Dhimmitude since those texts were written.

People like me believe what is required is a kind of exegesis and disavowing of the offensive texts by the religion's hierarchy. Much like Christians and Jews turned away from texts in their book that proved incompatible with evolved humanistic thought.

Again, your behavior on this forum is an obstacle to the last paragraph you wrote. We should help them to have their reformation (they have to do the heavy lifting themselves) and alienating them isn't the way to do it. Iran for instance, has a majority of people that really hunger to live the western life. They chafe under the Ayatollahs. We need to reach out to them instead of pushing them into the arms of the religious nuts. Just spewing hate about Islam isn't going to accomplish that.

If you only knew how much we agree. I am so pro-Iranian people. Even historically I am all about being pro-Iran. I've considered learning more Zoroastrianism and maybe becoming one if that's still possible. During the 2009 revolution I was all go Green, and avenge Neda.

I'm going strictly by your behavior on this forum. You say you agree, but your actions so far say otherwise. If you really are more moderate on this question than has so far been seen, well we can tell by your future posts. If I agree with you, I will say so. Bart and I agree on very little, but one thing I've always respected about him is that he won't let a past disagreement stop him from voicing agreement with me when he does. I work the same way.

From what I've seen of your posts on this topic. Dredging up horror story after horror story. Never the sort of reasonable thoughts you seem to be indicating now. Anyway, we'll have plenty to disagree about either way. Post your ideas in a more rational form, maybe I'll even discuss them with you. So far I've tried to avoid responding to you, because to me it just seems like extremist raving. If it turns out you're more open to having a reasoned discussion, well great.

I visited a Zoroastrian "church" less than a month ago to hear a lecture from and about themselves. You are born a Zoroastrian ("Zarathustrian"). You cannot convert to it and be accepted by them. This, by the way, is a source of concern for the Zoarostrians as they are in real danger of dying out. I am reminded of the Shakers.

They are very interesting and so is their ancient faith. Their values are pretty close to those that Christianity professes to keep.
