From a business standpoint, it's very smart, as it keeps people coming back to the well over and over, but to me, it's no worse than Microsoft releasing a new Windows OS full of bugs and problems, then expecting you to fix it over time.

Although I agree with your assessment of Apple products, Microsoft, although with the very well deserved reputation of releasing buggy OS, don't charge people for the patches/upgrades...well unless you consider upgrading Windows Vista to Windows 7

The theory behind Apple's business model is essentially the same, which is planned obsolescence.

Microsoft's issue is incompetence and greed, in that they (and their investors) want to rush the new product out ASAP.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
Proculation Proculation:

If it looks like a real computer and acts like a real computer and not
like an oversized MP3 player, then I'm slightly interested. I won't get
one, because by no means will that be cheap. As cheap as it could
realistically be would still be far from what I can afford. Oh well.

If they make it cheaper for to get this in Canada, and release it ASAP,
they *miiiight* kill the iPad in Canada (and they better release here first..)

...But I think it's too late by now. Unless it's released tomorrow and
all the news organizations start preaching it like they did with the iPad.
Which I doubt.

But again, overall, I'd be interested in a common computer interface.
And if I had to make a lazy point, I'd rather Windows as it's what
I'm familiar with. I prefer not to stare at an instruction book trying
to figure things out. Oh, and I have a working computer, so I'm content.

It is made in Canada. Precisely in Rimouski, Quebec. A little east of Quebec City.

I've asked some questions to the company via Twitter in french and it's almost ready.

The iPad killer. HA. Hah. Hahahahaha....
Just drove to Prince George. Both London Drugs and Future Shop sold out of iPads in under an hour. One hour.
They might have sold another if I'd got my hands on one, even though I need it like a hole in the head.

Actually that's untrue. Unless Future Shop started selling the iPad at 8pm. I was there at 9 at night and overheard an employee telling someone over the phone that they had some iPads left.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
$600 would severely damage the amount of food in my cupboard for a month.

You assume most people are like you?

TELUS Silently Adds 5GB Limit to iPad Data Plan:

http://www.intomobile.com/2010/06/01/te ... -plan.html

Now, terms of service change without notification. It's a content delivery system, and people paid $500 + for the privilege. [BF]

That ExoPC looks pretty neat. Same with ASUS's new tablet.

Why not blame both?
