If you want to breast-feed your child in a resteraunt for example, that isn't the right place because not everybody is 'cool' with it.

Been there, discussed that. We'll save some time and just say that you're completely wrong.

Ummmm no he isn't WRONG Ms. Lily everyone is entitled to an opinion. Despite provincial laws and your high handed BS everyone has the right to voice their opinion. There will always be people opposed to breast feeding in public and their views are equally important. I personally am not opposed to it just your BS decrees of right and wrong.

No. Their views are not equally important. Their views are repugnant and prudish.

And to keep it clean, it is a good thing not to have babies being fed IN the pool. Although I don't think it is a good idea to go swim with leaking breasts either...

Excellent points Brenda. I also think someone breast feeding a 20 month old needs to give their head a shake.

No. Someone who thinks that someone breastfeeding their 20 month old needs to give their head a shake needs to give THEIR head a shake.

If I have to swim in the same pool as the sweaty hairy men, they can certainly swim in the pool with me and my leaky breasts.... so to speak.

His opinion is irrelevant to the point, nova. He doesn't have to think breastfeeding in a restaurant is "cool" but he can't be high-handed and say it's not the right place for it. It IS the right place for it... it's perfectly legal.

So in that sense, I can put my hand down my pants and start fiddling around with my johnson while everybody else is eating than start touching things? Hey, it's not illegal... It's just gross, but as long as it's not illegal who cares right?

I could have done it in the privacy of my own home, but I had a itch and when you got to itch... you just do it instead of wait. Free country.

Not a valid comparison.

Ever tried to take your lunch into a baseball game?

This is a private pool, breaking the rules is not going to garner any sympathy.

As previously said, pool water is a hostile environment when feeding a baby.

Pool water is not a hostile environment. If it is, the very act of taking your kid to the pool is bad enough. Kids will swallow water whether they're breastfeeding or not. Get off this point. It's done.

The only way in which a pool differs from any other place is the (dubious) argument that breast milk or spit-up can foul the water - hence the provincial regulation. Pool rules as set out by the owner are second to the right to breastfeed. Only law can trump law.

Considering all the urination that goes on in pools, I can't imagine a little mother's milk would do any harm.

People need to stop being so squeamish about breastfeeding.

This isn't about being squeamish around breastfeeding. You said it yourself with all the urination in pools why would you want to feed your baby while floating in that?

BECAUSE IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE SINCE YOUR BABY IS SWALLOWING THAT WATER WHETHER THEY'RE FEEDING OR NOT!!!!!

Why would you allow your baby to drink urine and chlorine?

Exactly. Assuming the water's been properly treated, no harm will come to the baby.

Why would you go and soak in urine and chlorine? Or don't you go to the pool?

It's one thing to float in it, it's another thing to drink it.

No. It's because as Lily stated earlier, they test the water frequently to make sure it's safe, and there are regulations in place to make sure that any fouling of the water results in a complete decontamination of the pool.

This argument is a non-starter.

however they still need to "shock" the pool with chlorine, its not good for you, ever got out of a public pool and your eyes burn? now imagine that effect on a baby's esophagus. People need to use common sense, you don't breast feed a baby near a chemical like Chlorine. besides, I doubt the lady took a shower, to was the chlorine off her body.
