RUEZ RUEZ: C.M. Burns C.M. Burns: That's awfully nice of y'all to offer but I'm sure we'll be fine. Just look after your own airspace and we'll look after ours.
After all, it's not as if you have a great track record, now is it. You ever hear of Norad? Norad is an antiquated relic of the cold war and should be disbanded like the Warsaw Pact was. Let Canada defend Canada and the US defend the US. Why should Americans spend millions of dollars to provide security for the Canadian olympics?

lily lily: I'm glad the Olympics are coming, but I plan to get the heck out of Dodge for the duration. I'm thinking a cruise to Hawaii, if anyone is interested. I wish. I'll be cruising closer to home I suspect.

I don't see what the big deal is here. Canadian fighters fly patrol for the US and we return the favor. Friends do stuff like that. Unless someone wishes to propose that we not be friends anymore.

No matter what it's supposed to be about the odds are at some point someone will go off on an anti-American rant. I think most reasonable people would conclude that our friendship, which has been tenuous at best for more than a few years, is pretty much shot.

I think a few far left and far right idiots have tried to manipulate the feelings of the majority either way, but most sensible people I think still realise that in the end we're still good friends at heart. Hell, just because my neighbour likes luke warm Bud and I like a merlot with nose doesn't mean I won't need to borrow his riding lawnmower and he my hockey net.

What's the big deal? Under NORAD, both sides jets patrol the continent. There have been times when we've patrolled US airspace and others when they patrolled ours.

You really need the quiet, smart and nerdy friend to make you look respectable for the ladies. You know, sort of like the Cyrano de Bergerac to your Christian de Neuvillette.

We kinda have to be friends. But on a people level, Canadians have always and will always resent Americans, and Americans have always and will always just not give a shit about Canadians no matter what we think. We are such great friends. Didn't you mean "immature Canadians with a completely child-like outlook have always and will always resent Americans,"? Sounds like some big penis envy for a sixteen year old.

You may need to borrow his lawnmower, but if you piss him off enough he doesn't have to let you use it. Just because he's your neighbor doesn't mean you have to be friends. Do you think the Poles are all that fond of the Germans?
