DrCaleb DrCaleb: Jabberwalker Jabberwalker: llama66 llama66: We shall defend our democracy, whatever the cost may be, we shall not apologise on the beaches, we shall not apologise on the landing grounds, we shall not apologise in the fields and in the streets, we shall not apologise in the hills; we shall never apologise.
-Churchill The Brits, by the way, are not backing us in any way shape or form as their asses are so totally owned by the Saudis. It's their own fault then, that they sold themselves for trinkets. I hope they are proud of their other allies who bomb buses full of children. Great war strategy there! The Saudi pilots should proudly put a outline of the bus on the side of their plane with a big stroke through it, like they did in the Wars. (They want to provoke us? Well, they have a lot more skeletons in their closet than we do.) The Brits make a whole lot of £££££ selling those armaments that kill Yemeni children. We get a piece of it, too. Maybe, we'll smarten up a bit, now.

bootlegga bootlegga: herbie herbie: What we really should do right away is stop fucking Tweeting shit. Twitter's not the goddam medium for diplomacy. Oldtimers like most of us on CKA can hate on Twitter all they want, but the fact is that social media has replaced Network news/newspapers as the source of news/information that most people use. You are quite right, some people find Twitter useful. But Herbs' point is that it's not the place for international diplomacy. And it's not! Diplomacy has a theater, and it's not in 128 characters or less.

That some people use. Mainly the really fucking stupid ones. 10 years ago, you'd be correct, but not now. Like it or not, people are abandoning traditional media sources (newspapers and TV news) for social media and online news. In some countries, a majority of citizens choose social media first for news: http://media.digitalnewsreport.org/wp-c ... pdf?x89475 And the trend to get at least some of your news online is growing: $1: As of August 2017, two-thirds (67%) of Americans report that they get at least some of their news on social media – with two-in-ten doing so often, according to a new survey from Pew Research Center. This is a modest increase since early 2016, when (during the height of the presidential primaries) 62% of U.S. adults reported getting news from social media. http://www.journalism.org/2017/09/07/ne ... orms-2017/

I agree with you and Herbie that Twitter is a silly place to do this, but unfortunately, Twitter is the 21st century version of the telegraph and is being used more and more by governments around the globe for just that purpose. FYI - Twitter is now 280 characters (up from 140, not 128).

No it isn't 'the modern telegraph'. Telegraphs and telephones were end to end, not shared. It's more like everyone having a tv/radio broadcast license. And the stupid ones are the once who DO NOT read 'news' sites because they actually believe the MSM is fake news bullshit spewed by the propagandists. Yeah I read the news online too, I don't have the National Post, The Sun, The Province, The Globe & Mail delivered to my door here 60 kms up the Arsehole of BC. Otherwise I'd be one of those guys who read how the US cops fucked up an extradition request and think it has something to do with Trudeau or how a Judge votes.

Oh, I get it! The Sods of Arabia are the only people in the world who are allergic to criticism!

We live in changing times. New alliances are being forged. Here’s a weird story about Israel, KSA and UAE tring to get Trump to go easy on Putin over Ukraine so Putin will push Iran out of Syria. https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-des ... with-putinIf any of this is true, it’s bad news for Europe.

$1: One British diplomat is taken aback by his country's public reaction.
"I confess that I'm very disappointed by it," said Anthony Cary, a former British High Commissioner to Canada.
"There was a time when Canada could have rightly expected to receive the core support from the United States and from the United Kingdom, as its closest partners," he said in interview with CBC News from his home in London.
But a senior research fellow, who has been consulting the Canadian government on this dispute, says the British are heavily involved in quietly defusing the tensions.
"The United Kingdom in particular is working very hard behind the scenes to try and cool this problem down," said Michael Stephens of the Royal United Services Institute.
"It's sort of going through British diplomatic channels and it's being done obviously quietly. This is not something which needs to play out on Twitter," he said during an interview from his office.
"At the end of the day, enough damage has been done in public." $1: Another close observer suggests Canada wouldn't be testing the strength of its international relationships if it had stuck to traditional diplomatic channels.
"The thing with Canada — their approach was undiplomatic," said Najah al-Otaibi, a Saudi journalist and senior policy analyst at the Arabia Foundation.
"Behind closed doors, dialogue, communication, that's diplomacy," she said in an interview with CBC News on Thursday.
Al-Otaibi defended the actions of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, suggesting the KSA is being ganged up on by the West at a time when it is trying to change.
"They are reforming, and they thought they wanted to be appreciated and encouraged to do more. On the other hand, they are bashed by the international community and that's what made them frustrated about it." 'The new norm': Diplomat says Canada may need to get used to being alone on world stage

And people wonder why there is a separatist movement afoot in Alberta.

It's because Alberta has such a terrible record on human rights, being the first place in North America with a mosque, and first with an all black community.

Canuckletards should be grateful and start reading between the lines. Our allies are delivering a message: international supply routes will be disrupted.
The tariff wars/diplomatic/media analysis bullshit are theater to distract the masses while simultaneously communicating with the folks who have eyes to see and ears to hear.
We are going to war.
