FYI most forms of communism/anarchism, sans theories on "socialism in one country" Marxist-Leninist stuff, are deeply anti-nationalist.
Really? Maybe the ones you idolize are but
in reality?
Soviet communism was ardently a Russian nationalist movement at its core replete with propaganda about 'Mother Russia' and imagery and iconography of selected Russian heroes.
Chinese communism is and always has been a Chinese nationalist movement.
Bolivarian socialism/communism is a nationalist movement for a unified Latin American state that remains a dream among its followers. It's the home-grown nationalistic fervor that drives the Bolivarian paradigm much more so than any particular love for European-style socialism or communism.
North Korea's communist movement is probably the most nationalistic of all of the communist movements with the philosophy of
Juche acting as a surrogate for religion and with the Kim family posing as living deities.
The failure of Western communists and socialists is that they abhor nationalism and in doing so they alienate those people who will not trade their national identity for an economic system no matter how much lipstick you put on that particular pig.
Truth be told,
Mr. Canada had a lot more potential to drive a populist socialist movement than does
Public Domain to drive a bland, flavorless, international socialist movement in which the Canadian identity is discarded in favor of something less.
