Proculation Proculation: It runs Windows. That alone makes it infinitely more useful to me than the iPad could ever be. Plus USB compatibility. Bonus.

Because it doesn't exactly fits YOUR needs doesn't mean it sucks.
I'm sure it's a pretty fine product for the average netbook user.

bootlegga bootlegga: From a business standpoint, it's very smart, as it keeps people coming back to the well over and over, but to me, it's no worse than Microsoft releasing a new Windows OS full of bugs and problems, then expecting you to fix it over time. Although I agree with your assessment of Apple products, Microsoft, although with the very well deserved reputation of releasing buggy OS, don't charge people for the patches/upgrades...well unless you consider upgrading Windows Vista to Windows 7

That was a train wreck that could be seen from miles away.

I've had many patches available for my iPod and even the last one that they charged $10 for I was able to find online for free.

RUEZ RUEZ: Proculation Proculation: Me likey. Ohoh, so the competition starts to copy Apple's products, AGAIN? The idea of a giant iPod touch must not be so bad after all...

The ExoPC is in development since some times. Before Apple released their new product. Remember Apple is very secret on what they are developing. That's how they do things.

bootlegga bootlegga: For instance, why doesn't the iPad have flash or USB capability? I think they could just like they could have multi-task on the 3G but with 128 megs of ram it will be doable but look sub par. The flash/USB/Removable battery issue is something that comes up with their design all the time for the people who are looking into getting the device but not for the owners who have it. It's a choice apple has made and quite frankly with the devices being put out that are designed to be replaced within two years anyway, what would be the point? The price on the old devices drop like a stone anyway so there is no resale profit in it for apple to add such features up front and the market for tech is constantly evolving, it makes no sense for apple from a business perspective to lay all their cards on the table up front rather then focusing on a few aspects now and really working on that to make the overall platform that much stronger. I would hope they do something more for Itunes on the PC though it's a real resource hog and an example of bad programming. Makes syncing so easy though.

For the lack of flash and USB support, I think Apple wants to push new technologies which are wireless. Bluetooth, wifi, 3G.
They were the first to come with the USB and the Firewire. I think that they decided that the future is wireless.
They want to drive the future of technologies and we can't say they don't help.

I've had many patches available for my iPod and even the last one that they charged $10 for I was able to find online for free. Boot was referring to how the iPad doesn't have USB capability, while no doubt they'll release iPad 2.0 in a year or so with that capability, forcing Apple consumers to upgrade for said new feature that most comparable products already have. Microsoft, and Apple OS give software upgrades for free, so although MS releases buggy OS, they don't charge to patch it.

Speculation is that companies will be able to develop apps that will take advantage of that usb port.
