Frpm the Office of the Premier; (interesting read)

$1:
Thank you for your email regarding the renaming of the Queen Charlotte Islands. As you are aware, the Haida have had a long standing history and presence on these Islands, a history that stretches back many thousands of years before the visit of HMS Queen Charlotte in the summer of 1787.

The return of the island’s name back to Haida Gwaii demonstrates the depth of the Government’s commitment to working in respectful partnership with First Nations to bridge the economic and social divide that exists between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples in our province.

This change is also consistent with our desire to address land and resources issues pertaining to First Nations, and reflects our determination to make the New Relationship real for First Nations communities, families and individuals. It is yet another important step forward in establishing mutual trust in the process of reconciliation, and we all look forward to more progress in that regard.

Again, thank you for sharing your views. We hope this additional background information is helpful to you.

This change is also consistent with our desire to give silly names to everything up north hoping to confuse Canada Post with those carbon tax rebates and welfare cheques.

So those with the biggest and most guns won?
That is the way of the world.

The meek, well, they will do what the meek do. Whine.

That's not how it was done in most of Canada. The British didn't Conquer Canadian Natives, but often Allied with them for various struggles against certain enemies. You are wrong, sorry.

True, but they weren't forcibly put down or wiped out either. Sometimes Survival is Victory.
