I don't think EI would have paid 1.4$M to every job... Anyway GM, without the help, would have go bankruptcy earlier. Bankruptcy doesn't mean a total shutdown but a restructuration.
What Mr. Yakabuski didn't investigate for his article was the effect of all the other spin off job loss, supplier job loss, the stress on the EI system, the stress on the health care system, the list goes on.

Like if a big company has never bankrupted before...
So, we need to nationalize Wal-Mart if the management screw it because of the so-called systemic risk ? Microsoft, Exxon, GE, etc, etc ?
