Our contribution to the UN peacekeeping program has always been overblown in Canada. In truth Pakistan and Bangladesh have contrubuted way more troops than Canada over the past 15-20 years.

The reality is that we once again have a real army. In combat, kicking arse. That's why we join the military. Canada picks the arse, we kick it.

Well said Eyebrock. I'd also add that back in the 70's and 80's, when Canadians prided themselves on "Peacekeeping", we had a total of about 1000 troops on UN duty. At the same time, we had almost 10 000 assigned to NATO, at 4 hours notice to move in West Germany. Their sole purpose was to fight the Soviets if they ever decided to move west.

It's easy to ascribe meaning to another's words, then agree with them. But that doesn't make you right.

Eyebrock said nothing about "consolidating our borders." You made that up, and ascribed it to him.

Canada is a warrior nation Derby. We're fighting and winning in Afghanistan. It's not a Liberal thing. That party missed out on the moral high ground behind this war by challenging it after committing soldiers.

These guys have been launching rockets into houses in Israel for the past week but you wouldn’t know if from watching CTV or CBC.
