Any legitimacy this guy may have had died when Alex Jones and the Sons of McVeigh showed up. If some black guy who ran a liquor store and refused to pay his yearly fees and taxes pulled the same stunt and the Crips and Bloods showed up in support to provide "security" and threaten the police would the right-wing TeaBircher media be falling all over themselves to make excuses for him too?

Again there were payment of fees, and non-payment only of questionable "land management" fees. Bundy claims the land management fees were only there to drive ranchers bankrupt, and offers evidence that all his buddy ranchers who did pay the extorted BLM fees for as long as they could, did go bankrupt.

He claims he already owned the services or paid for the other fees BLM mentions. The way to settle this is not with a helicopter and machine gun attack by an inter-governmental civil paramilitary force.

Why should someone pay fees to an agency that wants to put them out of business? [huh]

Just because he claims it doesn't mean it's true.

Why did all the other ranchers in the area who played BLM's game go out of business then?

Speaking of claims though. Here's one that actually has primary source links to support its claims. They've found the name of the company Harry and his BLM puppet are trying to get Bundy's ranch for. It's called First Solar

$1:
First Solar, you’ll remember, is the crony firm whose chairman of the board, Michael Ahearn, bundled hundreds of thousands in political donations for Obama and other Democrats, including the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Harry Reid. First Solar was rewarded for this special excellence with over $3 billion in taxpayer “green energy” subsidies – whereupon it laid off most of its American workers and consolidated most of its activities overseas. The company’s stock has performed very poorly in the years since First Solar began hanging on Uncle Sam’s bootstrap, in part because of product defects that have cost hundreds of millions in customer compensation.

But a firm whose vice president has an open door to Valerie Jarrett can’t be held down for long. First Solar unloaded its underperforming CEO in 2012, brought in James Hughes – former Enron official named as an unindicted co-conspirator in 2006 – and shifted its emphasis from manufacturing to commercial-scale energy production. The company now has active solar energy projects in California and Nevada, including the one launched in March 2014 on the Moapa Reservation north of the Dry Lake SEZ and west of Bunkerville.

Oh, and First Solar got a nice infusion of capital in 2013, when an equity stake was taken in the company by none other than General Electric, perhaps the most equal of all the Obama cronies.

Lower than a desert tortoise on the totem pole

The desert tortoise has to take what comes, when it gets in the way of the cash-funneling solar industry. On 1 April, First Solar began digging up desert tortoises which are to be moved out of the way for the company’s Silver State and South Line solar array projects (the “Stateline” project), on either side of the California-Nevada border. (Solar arrays are also hard on unfortunate birds, which might prefer a noble puree-ing in the blades of a wind turbine to the gruesome frying they get from solar arrays.)

But in his standoff with the federal government, Cliven Bundy, his heritage, and his livelihood are considered to be of even less importance.

There's no right to be in business. If the law says you have to conduct business in a certain way, and you can't make a buck that way, well then too bad so sad, open up business somewhere else. What this guy is claiming is the right to welfare an a large scale. Nothing new there, lots of business likes to suck at the govt tit, while denouncing individuals who do, but they usually don't use guns to try to defend that "right." Fucking right wing, bunch of hypocrites, all about welfare for rich people.

This guy needs to stop being a burden and pay his debts like a man. He's been living on the government's teat long enough. If he cant run his business efficiently enough to stay open with the laws in place that's his problem.
Other's can.

Hey, don't you know that welfare is only bad when it goes to 'lazy' urban dwellers, but farmers neck deep in the trough - heck that's a-okay!

Same goes for the free market and competition - it only exists when it is convenient for conservatives.

Yeah, I doubt he's giving away free steak. The feed should be free though. Hell we should be milking his cows for him. What a JOKE!

Sure, just open public land to free grazing. Has tragedy of the commons written all over it. Of course then he`d probably start shooting other people`s cattle, `cause this is his land. "This land ain't your land, this land is my land, from California, to the New York Island, this land was made for me me me."

Haha. Yup. Gotta love that my family predates that law stuff. Well, sorry guys my family predates Internet laws. And my ancient ancestors predate all laws, and borders for that matter, so I'm gonna go where I want do what I want. Now where did I put my animal skins and hunting spear? There's a ranch in Nevada I need to visit.

Being a GOP mega-donor eliminates all requirements to obey silly things like laws, fees, and taxes.

I was wondering how such a "poor" rancher could afford to keep 900 head of cattle. But considering that the public is basically feeding them at zero cost to him, thanks to those grazing fees he refuses to pay, all he's doing is mooching as much corporate welfare as possible. I'm sure he'd be the first at the local town hall meetings to demand that all those worthless bleks and bruns be tossed off of food stamps ASAP. But corporate welfare and massive ag/ranching subsidies? Hey, fuck you, pal. I deserve those because I'm a REAL American.
