andyt andyt: Despite Bart's scaremongering, I'm quite reassured that the CMA prevents doctors from performing abortions that are way over the top. Then an investigation into alleged activites should be of no harm, right? If anything, it'll reassure you that you were right.

Lemmy Lemmy: BartSimpson BartSimpson: I also support the right of individuals to consent to being aborted. In your case, I'd even encourage it. Wow, that's unfriendly. As ignorant as I consider religious fundamentalist, climate-change denying, gun-nut Birthers to be, I'd never claim a superior right to life. Offside, dude, offside. Just embracing the argument is all. All too many abortion supporters get all offended when the suggestion is made that maybe they should have been aborted. What if your mother had thought about an abortion when she was pregnant with you? Aren't you glad that she didn't do it? So why should you get a chance at life when some other unborn baby with every bit the same amount of potential in life as yourself ends up in a vacuum bottle?

BartSimpson BartSimpson: Thanos Thanos: Hardcore Protestants You and Derby sure do know a lot of these people. Well, they do seem to be on TV a lot whenever I blunder across news from your country. You're GOP so I imagine that you know about a thousand times more of them than I ever will.

Fortunately for you though not for many of us, you've opted to haunt a website that will entertain these unsavoury personality traits that Free Republic would not.

I know of two such people. One of them isn't even an American but instead is a Canadian living on Vancouver Island up near Nanaimo. And they're not violent, but they do believe in having a lot of kids. The Canadian fellow has himself a harem going with (three?) wives and I believe eleven kids at the last count.

Lemmy Lemmy: It's funny to me that conservatives, who constantly rail against government and regulation, don't have any problem with creating government bureaucracy to regulate women and their vaginas. Kinda like the stereo-typical liberals who don't have a problem with abortion on demand, but vigorously protest the death penalty for grown-up bad guys? Expecting consistency from human beings is a mugs game.

This is funny because what got me booted from FR was just mentioning Rush Limbaugh's drug addiction. So I guess if the dominant side of my personality is speaking what's on my mind regardless of what people would rather believe then I'm guilty as charged.

2Cdo 2Cdo: Brenda Brenda: ONLY women. Because THEY are the only ones with the "problem" when they don't.
Thanks for the clarification. A little devils advocate for you, Women are the only ones who can determine if they abort or not, even if the father wants the child and will raise him/her on his own if neccasary. That being said, they can assume the responsibility for their 'condition'. Of course women are just as responsible for their pregnancies. Just not solely. Which was a little detail Bart forgot. Also, if men want to raise a baby without a woman, they can opt for a surrogate mother. Fact is tho, that a lot men just walk away to never look back, and she will be the only caregiver. Not every single mom is that by choice, you know...

Curtman Curtman: Unsound Unsound: That said, any doctor performing non-medically neccesary abortions after 19 weeks probably should be looked at by the CMA atleast. Any MP who sticks their nose into the issue and demands someone be arrested after going through an ordeal like that is more than just a rogue MP. It makes them a disgusting human being. My take on it is that Stevo is using a few "rogue" M.P.'s to keep an issue he really wants to deal with in the headlines. Keep it in the public eye and track public opinion on it and when the time is right, strike. My opinion. Everyone knows how I feel about the Stevo Government.

I'm one up on you because I got booted off of both FR and Democratic Underground. I can't remember exactly but I think FR blocked me for being Canadian. DU blocked me for saying that the idea of giving a member of a visible minority two votes while a white person only got one, as some ivory tower "negroes revenge" psychopath/ideologue that Bill Clinton tried to appoint to some office back in the early 1990's had proposed, was about the most fascist thing I'd ever heard of. The dual-bannings was one of many things that got me moving towards the center, that and being thoroughly disgusted at any given time by the NDP and the more lefty Liberals here at home. My antipathy for the fringes from both sides began getting fever-pitched about them.

It might surprise you to know that I'm pro-choice. I support the right of women to choose to use birth control pills, diaphragms, IUDs, condoms, and whatever else that modern technology avails for them to prevent pregnancy. Or abstinence also works well given that millions of married women use it all the time. I also support the right of individuals to consent to being aborted. In your case, I'd even encourage it. Well judging by the cat-shootin habit, you definitely wouldn't be pro-life.

Curtman Curtman: Unsound Unsound: Which "he" are you talking about here? $1: Conservative MP Maurice Vellacott has written a letter to RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson asking the force to investigate abortions after 19 weeks gestation as possible homicides. (Fred Chartrand/Canadian Press) This one. The guy who thinks abortion protesters who assault people on the worst day of their lives are like Martin Luther King. I have never heard Maurie speak on anything except abortion. I think he was even mute on the gun registry thing. He is my M.P. and I am ashamed.
