I know, these whiners that go on free speech. What a bunch of rubbish. I mean, weren't we all happier, deep down, when we lived in an absolutist monarchy. The fact is people should be happy about the Olympics, and if they're not, they need to be sent somewhere to be re-educated.

Harperville?

Harper valley PTA?

Can't blame Harper for this one. This is Campbell all the way.

A proposed B.C. law would allow municipal officials to enter homes to seize unauthorized and possibly anti-Olympic signs on short notice, civil libertarians say.

Violators could be fined up to $10,000 a day and jailed up to six months, the B.C. Civil Liberties Association said Friday

Yeah well, that's just BC..... I didn't see anything about the rest of Canada being restricted with this..... so I guess we'll all just have to step up our efforts for those who can't express themselves.

Added:

I'd also like to point out that based on the report, this law is only proposed, it's not yet passed.... and chances are I doubt it'd even be allowed to pass due to already existing restrictions on such a law based on our Charter of Rights.

If they don't like free expression and people bashing the Olympics.... then perhaps they should have held the Olympics in some other country.

The government said in a statement that the changes will "provide the municipalities of Vancouver, Richmond and Whistler with temporary enforcement powers to enable them to swiftly remove illegal signs and graffiti during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games."

That means that in any municipalities other than these three you can put up anti-Olympic sings. Squamish, for example, so the IOC officials can see the signs as they drive through.
