I recall a few years back, high wind and -18-20C. Dad's bedroom was on the groundfloor windward side and chilly. I suspected the 3 bricks thick was not as weather tight as advertized.

I hooked the garden hose to the hot water tap in the back laundry and stood outside his window. Bare hands on that nice warm hose was not a problem. I sprayed from 15ft and promptly glazed the side of the house at least 1 cm thick. No water ran off. It was liquid until it hit----whack. The iceman cometh.

After putting stuff away, I investigated and dad said the atmosphere changed the instant he heard the spray hit the window.

Not pee... boiling water... it's different. It turns to steam... then freezes... I think. Grabbing a quote from somewhere:

My experience with the hose produced no snow just a glaze----losts of steam. Water was about 130 F best estimate.

I recall returning from the North dakota coming through Minnesota, when it was -30 or something. The big thermal plant north of St cloud was going full tilt and its stack gases were drifting west right over I94. When I got to it I reduced speed because the stack gases were precipitating as snow. It was the wierdest, shortest (about 1/4 mile) snow storm I have ever encountered.

Well I was on the road at 1 am,flew to Edmonton and surprise surprise......the airport in Yellowknife was shut down at -46 ambient. So,they flew us back to Calgary and I just got home now,try again friday.

Not much moving up there,wish they would have booked us in a hotel in Edmonton and I would get to see the mall.

My bud drove me up and by the time he got home I was phoning and telling him to come on back.thats 9 hours driving for him so far.
