The combination of your phone number and email is used by companies to relate your activities across many sites.

I recently setup a domain email with a catch-all. Slowly as I transition to using that as my primary email, if I use it to sign up for something, I preface it with where I sign up. So if I used it here, it would be CKA@domain.ca. Then if I get spam to that email, I'll know it was compromised or sold. And it means that I don't have any official sign in email at any website that can be used to compromise my domain email.

I used to do that all the time when I ran my own domain. gmail@mydomain.com, banking@mydomain.com.

Then I used a completely different address/domain for my 'real' address.

Exactly! After recent hacks with user lists being leaked, I figured this is a solid way to keep the sign-in ID secured against leaks and selling of it.

Next goal is to build a big virtual environment to run a mail server, webserver, media server, pentesting boxes, and test boxes for potentially dangerous shit.
