I'm not aware of any state that totally prohibits firearms the way states totally prohibit certain drugs. States regulate the ownership of firearms to differing degrees of stringency. Are you really proposing that we go to having no regulation whatsoever on owning and carrying firearms? What point exactly are you trying to make here?
If you're trying to relate this to legalization of drugs, as I've said, guns are already legal. And, guns have one purpose - to kill. Drugs have no such purpose. Eliminate the profit for gangs from drugs, and you'll see a lot less violence, including killing with guns, no matter how restricted or not the guns are. I believe that was Curt's point. You're trying to make a false equivalence here.
