Robair Robair: BAT119 BAT119: Goverment produced pot would be boring, it would have a regulated amount of THC and come in a plain brown wrapper, its been a long time for me but when you scored it was always differnet stuff, some good, some bad and some was reallllly good! No doubt the crooks would still produce the best product and the illegal industry would still be booming. Does the government brew your beer or roll your cigs? No? Then why are you thinking they would sell marijuana?? You make it legal and private industry takes over. The goverment regulates alcohol content and the size of a package of cigaretts, why wouldn't they do this with pot?

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog: The synthetic THC doesn't seem to work as well as the organic. There is something more than just the THC that seems to make pot work its wonders. It may be because the lungs have, if I recall correctly, about 2000 times the available surface area as skin or mucous membranes. The uptake of THC into the bloodstream is a function of available surface area.

You said government produced, not regulated, in your original post. I think government regulated pot would be a good thing. A hell of a lot safer for sure. You know you aren't getting some nasty ingredients mixed with it.

Robair Robair: Aging_Redneck Aging_Redneck: thats an interesting point, but are you sure that the regulations of marijuana should mirror tobaco? I think that marijuana's phychotropic affect and it's connection to impaired driving, schizophrenia, etc warrants a different approach than tobacco. Alright then, alchohol. Aging_Redneck Aging_Redneck: Additionally, i think it would be a damn crime if someone didn't process the THC into a suppository so a dose of THC can be delivered without the carcinogenic risk of smoking. Such a produce ought to be regulated like an over the counter pharmaceutical, not like tobaco or alcohol, imo. You like suppositorys, we get it already. Like an over the counter pharmaceutical? I don't see why not, though it is a recreational drug like tobbacco or alchohol... just wtf is recreational about a drug? if you want a recreation, then go for a ride on a bicycle.

I get no self enjoyment in watching a drug addict throw away their entire life on an artificial perception.

You couold make that same statement about marriage, watching television, playing video games, spending time on-line, golfing or any number of pursuits that, in someone's opinion, constitutes "wasting their life". Adam Smith would say that WHATEVER someone is doing is THEIR best use of THEIR time. It's not for others to judge. surely, you are not saying all that, and chosing to hold drug addiction to the "recreational" podium? drug addicts are not on higher moral ground than those that you just mentioned.

He didn't say they were on Higher ( ) Moral Ground. But basically if its something you do that makes you happy, you have just as much right as those in other recreational activities. All those things have something in common...people enjoy them. It doesn't matter how others feel about.

there are many criminal activities that make the participants happy.....including heroine, acid, met. and even marijuana.
IMO, I think its a valid point to take offense to someone that wants to put this along side of bicycle, camping, even watching TV after a hard days work.

Lemmy Lemmy: I'm saying that everyone's life is their own. Non-drug users have no basis to think themselves superior in their lifestyle choices any more than single people have basis to criticize those "wasting" their lives in marriage. To each his own, so long as he isn't causing harm to anyone else. If you don't want to smoke pot, don't, but don't go telling those of us that choose to that we're "wasting our lives". I'm living my life to its fullest and when I get to band practice tonight, I'm gonna light up a big gagger, strap on the gold-tob, crank the twin reverb up to 11 and bust into "Already Gone" just for you! Uhhhh, what? I don't have my jive to english translator handy.
