First offense, so the sentencing isn't too far out of line with what first-timers usually get. Kind of lenient but not untypical of these types of instances. Or do you and Curty-boy only want the leniency on hand for when one of your crusading drug-dealers or pimps get popped?
Speaking of Winnipeg, what happened to that guy last year who grabbed up a toddler and spike-slammed the kid face-first into a sidewalk? What'd he get, two hours in the sweat lodge, a pay freeze on the treaty cheque, and a stern talking-to from Da Elders?

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog: [B-o] The chasing them down and then shooting them was a tad extreme. setting the dogs on them in your yard would be much more entertaining...then if one of the pups are hurt you have an excuse to shoot the bastards. This I agree with. The dogs always seem to really enjoy a good workout. They're just natural optimists that way.

$1: Speaking of Winnipeg, what happened to that guy last year who grabbed up a toddler and spike-slammed the kid face-first into a sidewalk? I thought it was a woman that did that. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/ ... nipeg.html$1: A Winnipeg woman who took a stranger's sleeping baby from her crib and smashed the toddler's head against a sidewalk has been sentenced to five years in prison.
But a judge gave Nikita Eaglestick double credit for the two years she has already served, so she'll only spend one more year behind bars.

Double credit? Awesome.

I figured given the age of victim and the viciousness of the attack, a charge of attempted murder would have been appropriate.
The man who rescued the child was told by the first responders that if he hadn't intervened, the toddler would be dead.

It was a woman, and she got 5 years, but 2 years credit for jail time, so 5 years. I didn't see Curt rave on about how he wanted a more lenient sentence for her. Actually considering she's native and a woman, 5 years isn't too bad, considering.

She was just a victim of the evil whiteman. Alcohol doesn't make you do anything that isn't already within you.

The man who rescued the child was told by the first responders that if he hadn't intervened, the toddler would be dead. They did a plea bargain - she was originally charged with attempted murder. But since we've had (white) women who killed get 2 years house arrest, this sentence is better than nothing. So Thanos, is it your contention that since this woman got off too easy, so should these guys? - (Who should also have been charged with attempted murder. You shoot somebody with a gun, not in self defence, it's attempted murder in my book)

On a previous thread on this topic I said that the guy did something recklessly stupid and should have faced punishment for it, which he has now received. First time offender with a young family and the cretins he shot at weren't crippled or killed so he didn't receive anything either too excessive or too lenient. The criminal record he's going to get and whatever firearms ban is placed on him are good enough for me. My comments on Winnipeg were aimed at Curty's cheap shot at Alberta. People in glass houses and all that. If I lived in the Glasgow of The Prairies the way Curt does I'd keep my fucking mouth shut and not point my fingers at others when it comes to crime in places other than the 'Peg.

I can type with my mouth shut thanks. You shoot someone in the back whose running away from you, then you should get more than weekends of house arrest. I know you guys love your guns, but smarten up.

I don't possess any guns so you can knock it off right now with that particular line of bullshit.
