Not really. The alternative would be India. Not being friends or allies with Pakistan, which is increasingly becoming more and more of a rogue nation...though I'm assuming the nuclear weapons tech came from Khan...I think that's the right spelling.

India would be the counterweight to Pakistan, and certainly becoming more deserving of foreign aid and military resources to put off China and Pakistan from engaging in any funny business.

Good point, India can help keep China at bay. It would take a lot though to rein in the kooks in Pakistan though.
