Assuming Hudak doesn't pull a John Tory, because that's what made it a media issue in the last election.
Unless Hudak is a complete moron, he won't raise the issue. McGuinty is so unpopular that Hudak has already won.

By that logic, it's easier to cut military funds, healthcare, infrastructure, social services, raise taxes, etc.; why just the CBC?
I don't view the CBC as an "essential" service (the others are), and I didn't advocate that it be shut down, just spun off like other crown corps that have gone private such as CN, Air Canada, or the reactor business of AECL.
There is nothing radical about what I'm suggesting.

And you weren't snarky with the previous comment?

True, the CBC shouldn't cost a billion dollars but neither should a weekend G8/G20 Summit. Besides, you wouldn't have to sell the CBC; you could cut their budget slightly, reduce their management salaries, and give them a clear mandate for what they're supposed to do et voila, no need to sell them and you've trimmed the fat.
I'd like to see the CBC cover its own costs, entirely. As a private corp it would do this or die. As a crown corp it can run in the red as much as it wants, the Canadian taxpayer will always end up picking up the tab.

Our program would be unrecognizable (in a good way) if we had $1 Billion funding. it.
I was thinking 1 billion in addition to the 400+ million it gets now. Can you say
independent launch capability?
