I can read the future headlines..

"Europe holds emergency session to approve oil imports from Canada as Russia moves to their new Chinese single customer model. Gasoline prices spike to 5 pounds per liter, more at 11"

I find ppl are quick to talk the talk but when push comes to shove and prices skyrocket they are usually the first in line clubbing baby seals to get what they need.

Yep, the Euro-weenies would rather buy from despots who are not only out-polluting us, but are beating the shite out of their own people. Hourly.

Do we really need to ship oil 3000 miles when we can just sell it to the Yanks?

Who cares what Europe thinks? The continent is slipping into junk-bond status but they want to call the shots?

Really.

This is laughable I suspect most middle eastern countries that they buy oil from not only fail on the environmental checklist but the Human rights one as well.

I'd tried to get where they're coming from but I can't get my head that far up my ass.

We should build our own refineries instead of shipping it down to the States.

True, we do need more Upgraders. We're not in to bad of shape refinery wise but we could use a bit more capacity.

Does any Canadian oil actually make it to Europe?

I think 0% goes to Europe.

Almost all of our oil exports go to the US.

That`s as of 2008, and I really have no idea how accurate it is.

Not really, so this is a tempest in a teapot.

I wouldn't worry about it, the Euros will fuck themselves up soon enough.

Gas is up to 1.55 E a litre now, tank cost 30 euros, thats about 42 dollars Canadian.

TO FILL UP MY MOTORCYCLE !

Don't ask about the car.

Most of the imports are north sea crude to Quebec. US and western pipelines don't reach there.

This could be the greatest thing ever for Canada. If the world bans our oil on the national markets there will be no commercializing it. We can declare it a national resource again and use it all internally at cost (about 40$ a barrel).

Think about the economic boom we’d have. Canada would have 40$ oil forever. Industry would flock here to capitalize on our super cheap domestic prices and stable economy with educated workers.
Sure beats the deal we have now with the oil companies. We get 5% of profits until the oil companies break even, then only 9-15% (depending on the contract) afterward… What a rip off.

Let’s start a movement to get our oil banned globally today :)

Yeah, seeing as most of that oil is in provinces that rely on it and are extremely protective of all resources, good luck keeping Canada in one piece.
