Scape Scape:
If the regime in NK felt they were cornered and were doomed they would flatten Seoul in 10 minutes with just the arty they have. It may be old and poorly maintained but they fire just 10 rounds each they could easily destroy the capitol and thus ensuring a mortal blow to the South Koreans economy and ultimately their stability.
Add in Nuclear weapons to the mix and the ability to strike Tokyo, NK could do to the world economy what it could do to the South Koreans.

What do you think China's response would be in that scenario? As for flattening Seoul with conventional artillery, do they have it in place to fire at a moment's notice?

Proculation Proculation:
Do the US have nukes in Korea or just in vessels at sea ?

The US military neither confirms nor denies information about the disposition of nuclear weapons.

NK won't care as they would be a smoking crater. You are aware of the term Mexican standoff?

NK has 10,000 fortified arty positions zeroed in just on Seoul alone. Add to this the fact that North Korea has more than 100 No-Dong missiles that can reach deep into South Korea, as well as to Japan.

I'm sure they have nuke artillery shells too. A battlefield nuke used in close would do the job.

All this belligerent talk from North Korea must really cheer up the Washington neo-conservative club. "Moar wars?!?!? Now that's some good eatin'!", Richard Perle must be thinking right about now. I'd like to see how the rest of the US will react if the national debt hits about $25 or 30 trillion three years from now after they get talked into simultaneously battling North Korea and Iran, and 'police actioning' in Mexico to boot in order to 'clean up that thar mess down thar' as some of the assholes on RedState were advocating earlier this week.

*fap*fap*fap*fap*fap*ugh*ugh*BLOORT!*ugh*sigh* This damn circle jerk never ends, does it? :?

No, the North Korean thing isn't making anyone happy because all those neo-cons you rail about are worried about their holdings in WalMart and in China being affected by a renewed Korean War (remember, it never actually ended).

Myself, in some respect I think it would be grand.

China would side with the DPRK and then the USA could cancel trillions in Chinese held T-bills and then the US could also justify a total embargo on Chinese trade. That would be good for the US worker.

Gunnair Gunnair:
You mean exterminate millions of civilians because of their oppressive regime?

How noble of you.

Well, one could argue it would be a mercy killing because living in NK is a fate worse than death.

well that is what North Korea has threatened to do to South Korea. are you against a pre-emptive stike or an opposite but equal reaction?
