Caffeine makes for a good wakeup pill. It doesn't seem to make me as jittery as coffee, since coffee has 70 different alkaloids in it. It can give you and added boost on a long bike ride. But in drugstores it's sold in pill form equivalent to 1 or tow cups of coffee. At least it's easy to get the dose right.

Proculation Proculation: wildrosegirl wildrosegirl: Proculation Proculation: It told to take max. 1/16 of a tea spoon. How can you weight that ? You don't. You measure it. Granted, it would be difficult though. I think the smallest measure I've ever seen is 1/4 tsp, so you'd have to quarter that again... That (as you implied) definitely makes it dangerous. yes but it says the warning was written very small on the package and the guy was in a party, drunk... That's very dangerous to put so much caffeine in a small pack like that. I really don't understand the hoopla about caffeine. I haven't ever noticed any difference after ingesting. My daily practice is morning I drink a full 10 cup pot of coffee-Columbian Dark Roast- 2/3 cup grounds. During the day I will normally consume 6-10 cans of Pepsi, and quite often, while watching the late news before bed will drink a couple of '1/2 cups' of Expresso, along with a snack of black forest cake, or pie, and icecream. Then I go to bed and sleep all night. I've been doing this for many years. And no I don't 'see' dead people. Periodically, just some whom I wish were!

Maybe there's something "better" you can do if you need caffeine to wake you up in the morning or as boost before exercise.

I'm pretty much the same way too, although, in the past year or so, I can't have as much as I used to - it keeps me up all night. I know others, a few of the women I work with, that absolutely vibrate after 2 cups! (And not in that feel good, spanky kind of way! ) $1: And no I don't 'see' dead people. But taking pure caffeine like that is insane.

Actually I only drink coffee one day a week - I do like the taste but too much of it doesn't agree with me. As for having a boost when you're dragging your ass during a hard ride, well I'm all ears, but I doubt there's anything that's legal and as safe as caffeine. Actually I use a product put out by an iron man champ, it's got a bit of caffeine but a shit load of other stuff to give you quick and enduring energy - it works pretty good, tho it does make me a bit hyper. But it also helps with recovery, less cramps, less sore muscles. Interesting that you would chide me for my very moderate caffeine intake, but say nothing to Yogi and his crazy man routine. But if it has no negative effects on him, so what. I worry more about all the sugar he's ingesting, that can't be good. 12 tsp per can of pop, plus all that chocolate cake or whatever. Wow.

No chiding anybody in particular, just everybody that thinks he needs coffee to wake or to boost him up. ...and for the record, I think Yogi is a cyborg.

There are few sorts of tea that are making that effect, coffe compared with it, is just a cup of water in the morning.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada: Caffeine kills roughly 3000 Americans a year. It's very easy to overdose on, roughly 5 or so cups will have you in the yellow-red zone. It takes a lot to kill you, but not a lot to mess you up.
Anyhow... Marijuana.. 0. The LD50 for caffeine for humans is 150-200mg/kg, or about 10 grams. You'd have to drink about 100 black medium coffees (100mg - Tim Hortons) before you'd reach that. But that's almost 300 litres of coffee. In short, it's basically impossible to overdose on caffeine by drinking coffee. I'm sure if you refined THC, you could overdose easily.

You're not going to jump all over me 'cause this is from Wiki, are you: $1: One estimate of THC's LD50 for humans indicates that about 1500 pounds (680 kilograms) of cannabis would have to be smoked within 14 minutes.[18] This estimate is supported by studies which indicate that the effective dose of THC is at least 1000 times lower than the estimated lethal dose (a "therapeutic ratio" of 1000:1). This is much higher than alcohol (therapeutic ratio 10:1), cocaine (15:1), or heroin (6:1).[19] $1: The LD50 value for rats by inhalation of THC is 42 mg/kg of body weight.[17] So a 100 kg man would have to inhale about 4 g of THC have a 50% chance of dying. It's pretty safe stuff. He'd probably be too stoned after the 1st gram to continue inhaling or doing much else for a while.
