EyeBrock EyeBrock:
I saw the same in reverse many times.

I worked in a close team for 3 years and 2 of our guys were black. It just wasn’t an issue to us but in the US , black Brits were unheard of at the time.

At first the guys found it amusing but it did start to wear thin being treated like freaks because of their very English accents.

One of the detachments was in Fla for 4 months and by the time we finished we were all glad to get the hell out.

It was an eye opener for all of us as they were our brothers, not black guys. We all signed the dotted line as equals. An IED doesn’t see skin colour, it just explodes.

I met some Indian Brits in Cuba and I had a big trouble processing the British accent from them.
I went up and talked to them and I think they had problems understanding why a stranger would do that... but every time they saw me after that, they would always come up to talk a bit. :D

Now Indian Brits, or Indians with Brit accents I've seen for years. But I understand your fascination. The guy I was referring to had a fish 'n' chip shop I'd go to just for the novelty of hearing him lol. He was a nice guy too and man, he could cook up a wicked batch of fish 'n' chips [drool]
