no surprise, diseases have a nasty habit of not respecting Commonwealth entry sites signs...
Watch it spread around.
Oh, but according to the doctors, it does! The mosquito's respect the Athletes Village!

Ruptu Gogoi was hospitalized on Friday, according to doctors, who suspect the 30-year-old male patient could have contracted the mosquito-borne viral disease from outside the Commonwealth Games athletes' village in New Delhi.

Well, it's true it did not have to happen at the athlete's village, it could've happened anywhere in India...although I'm not quite sure how that comment helps put a positive spin on this.

Apparently someone already has dengue fever at the games...although he may have gotten it prior to arriving.
In fairness, that's going to be a mosquito doing that and it's got nothing to do with what the Indians are doing or not doing.
Not, but if there are standing pools of water lying around (one of the complaints last week), then there's a place for mosquitoes to breed. The filth is a health issue, but so are pools of water.
Here in Edmonton, during the summer they ask you to turn over wheelbarrows/buckets/etc so they don't fill with rain and become breeding grounds for the little bastards. They also ask you to stir your rain bucket if you have one. Guess they never got the PSA...

After weeks of problems and delays in a wide range of areas in the buildup to the games, the sporting events finally began in New Delhi and are into day two. Many of the venues across the city, however, were nearly empty, prompting local organizers to admit that they are considering giving away free tickets.
"We are working on the children from schools. Already steps are being taken in that direction," local organizing committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi said Tuesday at a news conference that was at times farcical. "And also from the low level of society."
While India won its first gold medal of the games at the shooting venue, the leaders of the local organizing committee were sitting alongside the heads of the Commonwealth Games Federation and faced the media for the first time since the event opened.
Kalmadi was confident that all the problems that marred the first day of competition on Monday had been solved overnight, saying the transportation issues were dealt with and that the addition of ticket booths at all venues would lead to bigger crowds.
"As of today, things are all right," said Kalmadi, who also mistakenly noted that "Prince Diana" had attended Sunday's opening ceremony before correcting himself and identifying Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall as the attendees.

Okay, good for India on this.
But WTF is up with Canada, Australia, the UK, or NZ not taking this? You folks really, really need to develop youth shooting programs.

We do. Our gangs run full courses on shootings and even run a youth internship program. The problem is the league won't let them play in games outside of North America since Bettman took over.
