A speaker and mic, an electrically charged assemblage of paper and magnets. They take sound and change it into electric current and vice versa.

Is this pinned quartz system equally vulnerably to dust, strong magnetics, water and loud signal?

Does it have to have power fed into it or is it inert?

In a week or so, I should be able to pick up a 'Chinese knock-off' at Princess Auto, for a fraction of what the Fins would want!

I am sure in the future this new discovery will be important, we just may not be advanced enough for this to have any immediate contribution to our society. Maybe once we start going out and exploring space more we could use this to send sound wave through space for some yet undiscovered purpose.
