Winter Warfare exercises in Wainwright with crap kit were one thing I didn't miss when I retired.

gigs gigs:
Edmonton didn't get above 33.5 in 2009 (34 at the Leduc airport) absolutely gorgeous!

At the official sites, no. On the tarmac of the City Centre airport, during the Indy - yes it did. Absolutely sweltering. I drank 10 litres of water, and had to urinate once.

Kit still sucks, just now it sucks slightly less.

As for temps, I hate the region between -20 and about 10 to 15 celcius. Always feels cold for me, and I either overdress or underdress. Anyone else have the same complaint?

Below -20 the humidity drops to insignificant levels, and it doesn't really matter to me how cold it is after that. I spent half an hour wandering outside the airport in Edmonton Saturday night in only a t-shirt and hoodie. Only spot I was cold was my fingers. I don't think it was quite -46 at the time though, was between 8 an 8:30pm.

I would too particularly when in the traces during a dismounted phase. I'd get to over exerting and start sweating which only made it harder come nightfall. Only to turn around on the next days leg and do it all over again.

Kit always sucks. That's a universal constant.

If the typical soldier's kit looked like this:

Image

I can assure you that the vast majority of troops would bitch about it. "The robe is too soft! The slippers don't hold up on a 20 mile march!"

And if the food was served by a five-star chef the majority would still whine about it. It's just the way it is.

Really, I always suspected that the brass would always make something awful in every uniform just to insure that the troops would bitch about that and not them.

ROTFL

"There's no Playmate to dress me."

"They give me this to wear but no mansion to wear it in. Cheap bastards."

"Wut, assault that trench with the bayonet? OK, let's go!"

Trooploops never change.

Actually Bart, I have tried this at -52 C. Your pee does not freeze before it hits the ground, however, ya gets alot of pee steam. And it does freeze quick after it hits the ground.
