$1: We need a Poppy Bill of Rights, or something. For 10 days, the Legion can sell poppies wherever the hell it wants. Like Choban said, cause I'm tired of reading these stories every year.

People forget that when business and money are concerned no one cares about Vets. People are not going to close accounts or do anything that would hassle them on how they get paid or buy shit. If you picketed them it might stop new accounts but I doubt it.
At the end of November no one will remember or care about this. Does anyone remember all the business that refused them last year?
Also
If you do recall who boycotted the poppies did it affect your patron ship to the business for the rest of the year?

I just find it entertaining that businesses will do this because of fear of offending people, then they end up offending 10 times the number who would have originally been offended.

I belong to a vet's website, which I won't identify. We went to bat for a veteran that a hospital had threatened to transfer to a community not of his choosing. A place which was far away from his family. They rec'd a shitload of e-mails from us, and promptly reversed their decision. What they were trying to do was illegal, but they thought they could get away with it. We win when we work willingly and together to protect our veterans. Keep up the pressure, and don't give in to the bastards one inch. Don't deal with flunkies, go straight to the top. It gets results.

Not again? How about not again to this annual parade of outraged feces-flinging chimpanzees who are convinced their entire life's worth i8s diminshed becasue Walmart or Scotia bank or Joe's Garage won't sell their poppies. C'mon, admit it--you guys look forward to this--it's like the pre-Nov 11 freak-out fest for you. Hey, maybe they'll sell white poppies!

I certainly think that businesses are out of line in not allowing poppy sales, but I wonder: how many of the people AGHAST by this each year support the Legions at all? Our Legions, at least in Ontario, are DYING. There are too many folks out there who buy a poppy each November and that's it. Thanks, and all, but how about joining a Legion and getting involved? A handful of change once a year doesn't come close to meeting our budgetary needs. If you really want to support our Legions, become a Legion member.

IMO, any publicity on this matter is good publicity for the legion. Every time we sit around and bitch about how they are treated, it reminds one of us how important the poppy sales are. I hope remembrance day never becomes 'just another day off'.
Poppy sales will never offend me. But, the scandal and controversy definitely makes me get off my ass each year and make a point of contributing.
