So we got 6 hours of terrible CNN reporting for a balloon.
...I saw about 3 minutes of it. Can't imagine what 6 hours would have been. And I was being polite when I said terrible.

A fall can be broken by Paris Hilton?

Of course. Every fire-department has a bubble-headed bleach-blonde just in case there's a jumper on the ledge of a building too tall to be reached by ladders.

Seems like the dad is a bit of a media whore. He's done reality shows chasing tornados (with his kids in the backseat) and apparently he and the wife have been on the show Wife Swap a couple of times. Plus it appears the kid said in an interview that he hid because of one of daddy's shows. Stand by for charges.

I heard a bit of the news today that this is being investigated as a possible hoax. In which case authorities will be going after the dad for costsof 650 man-hours plus other expenses. Anyone hear anything more yet or if there is anything to this allegation?

If this was a hoax which it's looking like more and more as it unfolds, these parents are sickening to do this to everyone including their kids!!!

Yeah the more I find out about this family, the more I wouldn't put it past them. Take that into account with what the kid said.
Also when I saw the father's reaction, when the son threw up on air and the fathers response was to move the bucket over as not to spill.
I dont know about the rest of us, if that was my kid that I knew was sick. I wouldn't be dragging him infront of cameras, no matter the events.
At the very least if it is proven to be a hoax, he should pay the bill of the rescue attempt and be charged with public mischief.

Didn't follow any of this in the news but it's pretty clear from the floppy structure of the baloon that it hardly held up it's own weight, let alone the 50 odd pounds of a kid. Typical of the media to blow this into a gigantic event though.
The family or parents are being looked at for possible charges , wtf you could not find him give me a break . The reaction of the parents was the give away the mother was not shown crying or freeting . Hell I would be beserk about it .
