But at the end of the day she's another member of the lefty-immigrant elite in Quebec (she was another one who held French citizenship but she was forced to denounce it prior to becoming GG).

I'm sure her social circle has utter disdain for the few links we still have with the UK.

Quebec has no love of the monarchy or any part of Anglo-culture and it's no secret.

Why would we be suprised when a member of Quebec elite want's to erase the old Brit ties and replace it with their own version?

Just following in Trudeau's footsteps. He tried to eliminate anything of British origin in this country, our system of measurement, armed forces uniforms, etc.(although he thought Hitler wasn't evil enough to take up arms against - consientious objector, you know). Nope, don't have a great deal of respect for that being.

I don't know if 'hate' is the appropriate word but you should do some more wondering on the subject, except this time do it with an open mind. Come live out here --- "here" being anywhere outside the Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal nexus. You come out here and spend you entire life treated like a second class Canadian destined only to work away like troglodites in the mines for the privilege of sending out that money for transfer payments and see how pissed it makes you. Especially if/when your province asks for anything and you get the "you're just an uneducated red neck -- shut up and get back to work in the mines", treatment. Meanwhile the moment Quebec whines about anything -- ohhhh and Lordy can they whine about some silly stuff (battle re-encatments etc) -- they get pandered to.

There is definately a caste system in Canada: Toronto/Montreal, and everyone else. The 'hate' is just a natural byproduct of that.
