EyeBrock EyeBrock: I spent a few years in Labrador oldchum. I know frozen wastes. I should rephrase, the scenic Labrador tundra. Don't you mean the 'fragile and delicate ecosystem of the scenic Labrador tundra, an important habitat for many threatened and endangered species'? Sorry, I just can't write BS like that with a straight face!

CommanderSock CommanderSock: Assuming the nut job 'czar' is right...
An ice age is a win win for all, the environmentalists can finally say "I told you so", the right wingers will be happy all the 3rd worlders went home, and the neocons can wage perpetual war against 3rd world countries for "our survival".

It'd be nice to see a temperate climate here. Well they are forecasting that by 2050, the world's population will be 9 billion people, and we know which areas of the world are going to experience that growth. 'Hey honey, our kids are all starving now, what should we do? yes, let's have more.'

Countries with rapid population growths are not starving. The fastest growing nations are going through agricultural revolutions. Pakistan, Nigeria, Iran and India are currently the fastest growing nations and none of them are starving. What is certain is those nations will continue to become more resource nationalistic over time as they need to gobble up regional raw materials and drive up global prices for commodities. China is doing this with the prices of steel. Nigeria will eventually annex its smaller and hapless neighbors, it is inevitable, I don’t think the West (or east) can stop them. India is saddled but is large enough to grow for the foreseeable future. It has one of the highest percentages of fertile land in the world. Pakistan's population will continue to spill over westwards into Afghanistan. Iran's population will most likely level off. What's guaranteed is a bigger clash over resources in the 50 years. All this global warming stuff is a front to secure more. There will be no global cooling anytime soon, and if there is it will only happen in Europe. Let Europe deal with it, they’re the biggest polluters anyhow. edit: http://www.iiasa.ac.at/Research/LUC/Pap ... /chap1.htm

The world will be coming for them, if we don't.

Not to mention oil, minerals, lumber, natural gas, food, and above all, lebensraum!

War and disease are the only things that seem to be able to control our numbers, so our future doesn't look very bright the way things are going. If populations in the developing world become more affluent, that'll put an even bigger strain on our finite resources.

Ice Age 3 was even worse, but I don't think it has killed anyone, yet.
