Really, if gender neutrality or equality is the goal here females should be encouraged not to feel weird when they have a male doctor or pharmacist and vice versa. Practices like this only reinforce the perception that a woman doctor can't understand a mans problems and a male doctor can't understand a woman’s problems.

Brenda Brenda: TattoodGirl TattoodGirl: No its not just you. I find this bizarre...I talk to my doctor (male), I do have a female gyno...but my pharmacist is male as well and I talk to him about anything, he is a professional. My doctor (male) does my pap-smears too, not my (female) gyno... Cool...mine doesnt but I have had tumours removed and my Doctor feels the best fit is a specialist. I agree.

Which means, imo, that you have a fantastic doctor. I seriously do not care who does it. They are professionals, it should not matter.

She's smart, young, very attractive and very professional. She's also up to speed on new practises and keeps up on the medical journals. I quizzed her on that when my wife and I first went to meet her. She's also a young GP that was willing to set up practice in rural Ontario, so I've been very impressed with her. Her gender had exactly nothing to with my decision to sign my family onto her practice. And, just to tread offisde for a second, if she can't understand "a man's problem", then that's cool with me, so long as it means she'll have to feel around down there a little longer.

There are all women gym's and they seem do be doing well. As pharmacists are private businesses not regulated by the government they can do their business as they deem fit. The onus is on the consumer not to shop there if they take issue. As for a Dr/Pharmacists yes, the Doctors are for the most part professionals with your health as their primary concern but the pharmacist at point of sale has a different perspective that can better identify counter indications that could be harmful or fatal that a doctor could simply overlook.

As long as men dont try the same thing, all is well in the world huh ? I forget where it was in Canada but a "private" business tried a mens only cigar bar, and that was shot to shit in minutes.

I don't care if there are "women's only" things like gyms, doctors, clubs or what ever. What bothers me is that men aren't entitled to the same. My Dad stopped going to the YMCA after they made it co-ed, not because he thinks women are some how less than, he just simply feels more comfortable sitting without his shirt on in the sauna in a all male environment. He had breast cancer a few years back and is self conscious about the scar. There's nothing wrong with that. The tipping point for me was the decision to make boy scouts co-ed and the hockey dressing room thing. I feel sorry for boys who are growing up now a days, male bonding is an important part of a mans life and it's getting to the point were even that is frowned upon.

$1: He had breast cancer a few years back and is self conscious about the scar. That is something you don't hear about often. I hope men do examine themselves too... I hope he is doing better, Dino! I totally agree with the rest of your post, btw. Dressing rooms should be separated, and what goes for women should go for men too.

It comes right back to market share. There are men's gyms out there just watch the UFC to see that or even old Rocky movies. As for men piping up and demanding an all men's gym is another thing. I have problems even imagining the marketing involved.

Yeah I almost forgot about the "boy" scouts thing, were not allowed to join the girl guides troop, not that any boy would want too. Male bonding at a young age is important. But I suppose if were emasculated at young age they figure the world will be a better place later on or some horse shit like that. I can't wrap my head around the reasoning. Just the people that give into these obviously ridicolous demands needs to grow a pair. The offer IT courses too that are for women only, the selling point that it isn't a "hostile" environment. Never realized we were such brutes.

I haven't been in a sauna in a long time, when I did it was men only and we were all naked. I thought that's how a sauna was suppose to be done. I guess, full clothing is necessary now. Kind of defeats the point.
