Yogi Yogi: QBall QBall: Hmmm, too slow to chase a moped. Improper to carry additional weapons, ammunition or other equipment. Can't carry suspects from a crime scene to jail. Can't use it for cover. All this thing seems to be good for is to make our police fat(ter) and lazy(ier). Get off the Segway and walk dammit! As noted by the Inspector, " the scooters would be of benefit to beat-cops". I don't think they intend to replace patrol-cops rides! If a 'beat-cop' needed to have a prisoner transported or a moped chased then they would call for a car. Same as they do now. The whole point of a beat cop is that they get a chance to interact with people in the neighbourhood. Someone on a Segway on steroids would be rather imposing to your average citizen, not to mention the area a beat cop is expected to patrol would be increased in order to maximize the investment. Bicycles do everything this thing does, plus they keep the officer in better physical condition at a fraction of the cost.

Bikes are a way more sensible investment compared to this thing. This is just a rather expensive gimmick.

RUEZ RUEZ: Heavy_Metal Heavy_Metal: *sigh* crosses off BC as potential policing job In case you make it into a police force in Canada, BC thanks you for crossing us off. Secondly, does this mean you aren't open to new ideas for policing? We also have cops on bikes, and cops on ATV's. service...police service....oh don't you worry, might still make my out there on RCMP oh i'm open....just don't like this idea, my opinion...

ridenrain ridenrain: Heavy_Metal Heavy_Metal: *sigh* crosses off BC as potential policing job Good. We already have enough cops who are friendly with organized crime. Just a quick observation though.. I'm guessing these fall into the old person scooter class and I can't really see how they'd be better than bicycles in a crowded downtown. lol like i've said before the cash your mom would pay is more than enough to keep me away from that crap. the only thing that is going to be friendly with organized crime are my cuffs and my boot ...stability maybe? easier to push a bike cop off his bike????
