There is a small chance, about .1% chance of it happening. Even with all of the planned tests, it'll be only a 12% chance of turning into a black hole over its lifetime. The small chance of a black hole occuring doesn't outweigh the many scientific documents which grad students will write.

No matter what happens with these tests, a vast amount of Americans wont believe it. I really feel bad for kids growing up in the bible belt today.

I think a micro black hole could have some implications for energy source, anti-grav unit, and warpo travel. Exciting! Assuming we don't get sucked into a big black hole of course!

Anyone know how you would get rid of a micro black hole, wouldn't it become a new form of nuclear waste?

I don't think it would be stable. Micro-black holes would radiate away their energy in a matter of a billionths of a second, if that. At least we hope so!

On the other hand, it has been pointed out that, since we on Earth have never been contacted by a space-travelling species (to our knowledge) then either their is no other intelligent life out there, or intelligent life is inhernetly unstable (like micro-black holes) and tends to do itself in before getting very advanced.

That guy is probably just mad becasue the collider is in France.

No. A 'Black hole' is so named because it is so massively heavy that the gravity of it absorbs everything, including light. And Nuclear waste.

The LHD isn't capable of producing anything with a mass larger than two atoms. The two it just smacked into each other.

Slightly offtopic; here is what LHD geeks do in their off time:
