N_Fiddledog N_Fiddledog: And it was about 2000 ppm during the time of the Dinosaur. Was that your measurement or someone else's? $1: I'd double check all that if I were you, but I think it's more or less correct. If it is, "Current CO2 concentration: 402.8 ppm," so what? Well, for every doubling of CO2, generally speaking, you get a tropospheric temperature increase of around 1 degree. That's called global warming.

N_Fiddledog N_Fiddledog: Submarines don't warn of Toxic levels until, I think, it's 12,000 ppm. But . . wait! Weren't you trying to tell us that Carbon Dioxide wasn't a pollutant? BartSimpson BartSimpson: It only contributes to warming if that inconsequential bright yellow thing in the sky cooperates. Why does that have anything to do with it?

No. What I say is one of those things I have to say to zealots about a hundred times before they hear me. I think you're just at ten or so. So we have a long way to go. What I say is (and feel free to quote me on this) "Carbon Dioxide is not toxic at levels man is capable of putting into the atmosphere."At times I just shorthand that do "CO2 is not toxic", but when there's one of the warmist faithful around I'm going to have to explain it for them, and there usually is.

Or as it's called at my house, "nice weather". Like I've said to you in conversations we've had about this before, if you're going to try to scare me, you're going to have to do better than 1 degree per century, or so.

I'm not trying to scare anyone. I'm just pointing out that the mad antics of zealots and histrionic idiots have no impact on the spectral properties of a CO2 molecule.

The common ratio for binary is 2 with a scale factor of 1, what would be the common ratio for temp rise given a doubling of CO2?

PluggyRug PluggyRug: The common ratio for binary is two (2), what would be the common ratio for temp rise given a doubling of CO2? About 1.1 deg C, I believe, for each doubling of CO2. dF = 5.35 ln(C/Co)
