I dont' beleive any of that Maya in America stuff. Belongs up there with the theory that the Chinese and Ancient Egyptians sailed to the Americas.

The Aztecs certainly had some bloody rituals (acts of cannibalism being a religuous ritual, not a daily diet) but I think your depiction of them is quite once-sided. Despite their blood rituals, they had an advanced soceity in their own right.

The Christian God has no issues with slavery.

Neither do the atheists who have student loans.

I thought the atheists were mostly concerned about access to parking.

I'm actually pretty generous. You want to hear some real venom towards the Aztecs then go talk to a Navajo or a Hopi. It's like hearing the leader of ISIS pronounce on the Jews.

True. They often can be found driving around San Francisco saying things like, "God dammit, why can't I find a parking spot?" and "Jesus! Where am I going to park my car?"

I do not remember what group was in the Amazon forest area but I do remember that they have found where they had cut down large areas of the forest to plant crops. It can only be seen now from the air with large square and rectangle sections of new growth vs the old growth areas.

BeaverFever BeaverFever:
both

Aztecs usually sacrificed prisoners of war. The Flower war ritual was quite interesting.

$1:
The Aztec were cannibals

They engaged in ritual cannibalism. Human flesh wasn't part of their diet. many cultures including our own ancestors engaged in blood sacrifice and ritual cannibalism. Hell, the damned Catholics still believe in transubstantiation.

Their penchant for human sacrifice was part of their downfall. Their enemies were more than willing to help the Spanish bring them down because they were getting tired of losing their people to the Aztec altars.

Just to throw it out. The biblical slavery and the slavery of the classical and Roman era is quite a bit different

Not really.

In what way? The Bible makes it pretty clear that beating Slaves was perfectly ok, just as long as they didn't die in a couple days. For eg.

I'm sure regardless of which tribe was ruling, they would have had rivals willing to cooperate with the Spanish. Ultimately all of them met the same fate as the Spanish didn't really make much of a disctinction between the differnt types of native once they had successfully conquered the land.
