I'd have to pass on this too. I'm just really bored by religion, with the possible exception of Zen, and a half-hour discussion about what it means to be Muslim would be tear-jerkingly dull for me.

Pass. Simply because I am smart enough to understand that not everyone who believes the same belief is an asshole. I condemn the assholes, not the non-assholes.
That said, I do appreciate their effort and hope they can teach people who need their eyes opened.

Zen is all about boredom. $1: ..similarly, boredom is important in meditation practice; it increases the psychological sophistication of the practitioners. They begin to appreciate boredom and they develop their sophistication until the boredom begins to become cool boredom, like a mountain river. It flows and flows and flows, methodically and repetitiously, but it is very cooling, very refreshing. http://www.atiling.org/teachings/furthe ... 37-boredom

FTR, I don't feel that I have anything to learn from this kind of experience, but would go to an Open House just for the food....as long as I could just eat and leave without having to talk to people. I don't like talking to strangers unless I'm drunk, which I'm guessing wouldn't be an option here.

BartSimpson BartSimpson: Andy & Martin, seems you're both right on this according a Muslim site: http://halal-or-haram.com/blog/2014/02/ ... er-kebabs/Some kebabs are, indeed, haram even though they are prepared by and served to Muslims. With that in mind I can understand where some clerics would declare all kebab to be haram given how some moslems don't care if they serve pork to Muslims. Friend of mine in Switzerland lives in a village with a really good kebab stand, but the guy who runs it (a Turk) won't eat it, because he knows there is pork in it. There are 2 suppliers of kebab meats in Switzerland, both 'accidentally' use pork. Very few of his customers are Muslim, so no one cares. http://www.thelocal.ch/20130226/muslims ... iss-kebabs

Shhhhhh.....they call it white steak, not pork. When we lived in Kaohsiung, we used to get lamb kabobs/skewers all the time from a Pakistani restaurant...the pork was done at a Greek restaurant or by locals

BeaverFever BeaverFever: So which is it Bart, 1 or 2? Or are you going to hide from my question? In answer to your question: No, I don't think it's a good idea for you to cruise the local middle schools looking for dates.

Is this going to be like:
Yubba dubba doo
Flintstones, meet the Flintstones They're the modern stone age family From the town of Bedrock They're a page right out of history
Let's ride with the family down the street Through the courtesy of Fred's two feet When you're with the Flintstones Have a yabba dabba doo time, a dabba doo time We'll have a gay old time
The Flintstones
Flintstones, meet the Flintstones They're the modern stone age family From the town of Bedrock They're a page right out of history
Someday, maybe Fred will win the fight Then that cat will stay out for the night When you're with the Flintstones Have a yabba dabba doo time, a dabba doo time We'll have a gay old time We'll have a gay old time
