Public_Domain Public_Domain:
I like that her "DPA STAFF" badge is clearly made from the same material as the ribbon I got in Grade 6 Track & Field for "Participation"...

Who is she and why should I give a damn? I mean, I agree with her.. but what makes her unique? Does she really need a flashy post card picture to make people who agree with her feel well-supported?

If I took photos with my opinions on them and narcissistically shared them under the guise of official stature, would my political arguments be better received? I hope not.

The Drug Policy Alliance made these photos as a part of their presentation at the International Drug Policy Reform Conference..

About the Conference

The International Drug Policy Reform Conference is a biennial event that brings together people from around the world who believe that the war on drugs is doing more harm than good. It brings together over 1,000 attendees representing 30 different countries.

This year attendees will have the opportunity to spend three days interacting with people committed to finding alternatives to the war on drugs while participating in sessions given by leading experts from around the world. Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of this event.

Here are what some attendees had to say about the 2011 conference:

“The International Drug Reform Conference was, by far, one of the most eye opening experiences of my life...It felt as if I were at the epicenter of the most conscious people on the planet.”

“Every workshop that I attended had excellent presenters and panelists. I was extremely pleased to once again attend the 2011 Reform Conference. It was more diverse than ever and very inclusive of issues that I support. See you in Denver!”

“The Drug Policy Alliance conference is an educational opportunity that every responsible individual should experience - regardless of your position on the issues.”

“Every two years I look forward to the International Drug Policy Reform Conference, where I know I'll get a chance to hear from, and speak with some of the brightest minds in the drug policy reform movement.”

“If you think the drug war has failed our country and harmed countries like Mexico and you want to do something about it, this is the conference to be at.”

The Drug Policy Alliance is a group founded by Richard Branson.

Public_Domain Public_Domain:
almost literally no real substantial changes

Really? Washington and Colorado becoming the first jurisdictions in the entire world to try tax & regulate, and then Uruguay becoming the first federal jurisdiction to try aren't substantial changes?

A 10% increase in support nationally to a clear majority in the U.S. in one year is no change?

What do you consider substantial?

I don't expect them to end the drug war single-handedly... I'm entirely convinced that groups like that will never be able to get shit done in that fashion.

I'll just never be interested in some fucking convention where I would only talk with people who agree with me, If I wasn't already convinced, these flashy pieces of plastic board and expensive products for the staff of this "non-profit" would do absolutely nothing to help bring me around.

Not that I don't like hanging around people who agree with me now and then, but I don't then tell myself that I'm getting shit done. I'm comforting myself, that's it... Meaning it's pointless. Why have a convention when I could instead watch some dolt stand next to a white wall and convey all of my opinions to me on YouTube?

"Oh, you think drugs should be legal? Really?! Me too! Why don't they do it already? They're all stupid. Do you have a Facebook? We could jerk off later."

Uh-huh.. Well you've convinced yourself that political activism is useless, do you expect the rest of us to succumb to apathy just because communism is a hard-sell in a capitalist society?

For some people it's more than a theoretical exercise.

Public_Domain Public_Domain:
You, on the other hand, prefer to be amongst only those who always agree with you, and even though the vast majority of people here agree with your fundamental argument (End the War on Drugs), you've managed to stupefy virtually every user here into complete irritation with your repetitive jerk-off activism. You want to hunt down the couple of users here who think marijuana should remain criminalized... If I acted towards non-communists the way you do to the users who disagree with your politics here, I'd hopefully be banned.

You are preaching to a very fucking annoyed choir. You are hoping that posting more YouTube videos and novelty pictures will convince your invisible enemy. You are getting nothing done, and getting no respect because of it. Your approach is so damn terrible on this forum that you've had to disable your reputation points even though most users here believe the drug war should end. I wager 95% of the users here would agree with your "cause" sans the activist bullshit you peddle.

I vote for your fantasy land, where most of the people here have this kind of common sense.

You can have your thread back, if I repeat myself much more I won't be any better than you.

Thanks.

The war on drugs is something they support when they put the CPC logo beside their avatar. I'll engage them whenever the news permits it.

What I find fascinating is the people who come to the topic to complain about it. What makes you do that?

Activism.
40 years ago I went to anti VietNam rallies and Easter Be-Ins.
30 years agp I went to a rally and stood under our 10,000 strong union banner. The TV reporters walked by and interviewed the people standing under the "Lesbian Mothers Against The Budget" banner.
Shook my head then.
Now people think clicking "Like" on Facebook is activism.

But the law was wrong when I was a teen and it's still wrong now I have grandkids entering their teens. I don't even remember the last time I smoked pot, but fuck anyone who wants to make them criminals if they have a toke.
I'd like to see it legalized, but my idea of how fucks over everything that's corporate and Holy so it will never be.
