Went there once on vacation.
Never again. Crap food, weird vibe. A desperate country steeped in 1950's totalitarian thinking. An unpleasant place. Pity, because it is a very nice country landscape wise with great beaches.
Playa De Carmen easily beats it on a thousand levels, plus they have toilet roll.
