Seems like a viral or semi-organized campaign considering that this is about the fourth or fifth significant anti-Semitic attack in the New York City area in the last few weeks committed by blacks who are involved with kooky religious groups (i.e. Black Hebrews, black Muslims). Wonder when Sharpton will chime in to say something awful about Jews and make things that much worse.

I first wrote about the uptick in May. The reason the city’s liberal political class was ignoring it, I ­argued, is that the criminals don’t fit their picture of Evil Bigots. They aren’t, for the most part, MAGA-hat wearing white guys with tiki torches. In fact, many of the attackers are people of color, as investigative reporting by Tablet’s Armin Rosen and others has shown.

Imagine if they were white ­nationalists. How much faster would the mayor and other city leaders have taken action?

“A lot of folks were told it was unacceptable to be anti-Semitic,” de Blasio said in May. “It was ­unacceptable to be racist, and now they’re getting more permission.” The message was subtle but unmistakable: De Blasio was trying to pin the attacks in bright-blue New York on President Trump.

Hizzoner didn’t surrender the fantasy for some time. In June, he said: “I want to be very, very clear, the violent threat, the threat that is ideological, is very much from the right.”

He left unclear how the Big ­Apple had come to be populated by ideological far-right types beating up on Jews. His comments ­underscored his inability to truly counter the type of street-level ­anti-Semitism spreading through the city.

Will he face the facts now? Or will Jews need to actually die, not just be pummeled, for our leaders to grasp the threat?

“Anti-Semitism is an attack on the values of our city — and we will confront it head-on,”

De Blasio tweeted after this latest round of violence against Jews in the city. He has to stop beating around the bush. These attacks aren’t an ­attack on “our values.” They’re attacks on visibly Jewish people.

Even Sunday, after the Monsey stabbings, he blamed Trump and “Washington” for “creating an atmosphere of hate.”

De Blasio needs to stop trying to find a “them” to be the opposite of his “us.” His juvenile obsession with having the right adversaries allows anti-Semitism to flourish.

I used to write about Europeans and their apathetic attitudes ­toward the Jew-hatred around them. Synagogues torched, Jews beaten — just another day on the Continent.

But now the demon is here, in America. Worse, it’s stalking Jews with increasing regularity in New York City, my city, home to the largest Jewish population outside Israel. Hizzoner’s vague universalist rhetoric obscures this raw reality.

And it isn’t just his ideological blinders. The mayor has also helped create an anti-police ­atmosphere, in which the vigilant presence of officers is considered a bad thing. At an anti-police rally last month, there were signs calling for violence against the NYPD.

De Blasio’s response? He insinuated that the idea that there’s anti-police sentiment in our city is, yes, another right-wing plot.

In 2020 I don’t want to read ­another column like this one. All Jews want is to live our lives in safety. To ensure that, the mayor will have to stop using the violence against us to fight his invisible political foes.

De Blasio’s ideology has led to apathy, which, in turn, has resulted in injured Jews in our city. It’s time for his administration to take serious action, starting by flooding hot-spot neighborhoods with ­police officers empowered to act.

In May, I wrote: “The attacks, and the silence of progressive New York, are utterly appalling.” In ­December, it’s more than appalling. It’s complicit.

It does but I always get the feeling that Islamists and the Progressive/Regressive faction of the left are kind of kindred spirits.

One shouldn't forget that when Islamism is practiced the way it was meant to be it is a political ideology as much as it is a religious one. And it shares the demand for control with what I'll call Progressive Socialism.

Heavy leads me to believe your "reliable" media is as full of crap as the journals are alleged to be full of Nazi propaganda.

* Thomas is now charged with federal hate crimes. Thomas’s “residence contained handwritten journals with several pages of anti-Semitic references,” the Department of Justice revealed in a press release. “Thomas’s cellphone contained Internet searches dating back to at least November 2019 for terms such as ‘Zionist Temples’ in Staten Island and New Jersey, as well as a webpage visit on the day of the attack to an article titled, ‘New York To Increase Police Presence After Anti-Semitic Attacks.'”

I believe this below is what Doc is referring to with the deceptive term "full of." Somebody is full of something all right.

He’s also accused of referring to Adolf Hitler and “Nazi culture” on the same page as drawings of a Star of David and Swastika. In addition, he used his phone to search “why did Hitler hate the Jews” and “German Jewish Temples near me” as well as “Zionist temples in Elizabeth NJ” and of Staten Island and “prominent companies founded by Jews in America,” the complaint alleges.

* At Grafton’s home in Greenwood Lake, authorities found the packaging for an 18-inch Ozark Trail machete. According to the complaint, comments in the journals stated that the “Hebrew Israelites” took from the “powerful ppl (ebinoid Israelites).” Thomas also questioned “why ppl mourned for anti-Semitism when there is Semitic genocide,” authorities allege. The complaint states that the term “ebinoid Israelites” appears to be a reference to the Black Hebrew Israelite movement, in which “groups of African-Americans assert that they are the descendants of the ancient Israelites.

* Michael Sussman, Thomas’s lawyer, told CNN he “suffered from depression and psychosis for years…and was hospitalized several times in 2019.”

On the night of the stabbings, Thomas told Sussan he heard a “voice talking to him about a piece of property that he understood was in that house,” Sussman told CNN, addig that Thomas talked about “various auditory hallucinations and one might say ‘demons.'”

* The acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigrations Services caused controversy when he tweeted that Thomas is the child of illegal immigrants who received amnesty in the 1980s. He claimed “American values did not take hold.”

* Joe Kennedy was Grafton Thomas’s stepfather for years and knew the family for about a decade. In an interview with Heavy, he described how Thomas’s mental health seemed to deteriorate over the years. Roughly 6 foot 5 inches tall and weighing over 200 pounds, Thomas struck an opposing figure, and Kennedy says Grafton became violent with him several times.

* Kennedy also shed new light on biographical details of Thomas; he alleged that Thomas associated with the Crips and Bloods gang. Thomas was born in America and raised in Brooklyn but his mother moved the family to a smaller town to get away from gang influences.

* Asked if he ever heard Thomas express hatred toward Jewish people during the years he knew him, he said, “No, he didn’t label anybody.”

He added: “He considered himself a Muslim, but he didn’t practice…He didn’t pray five times a day. He didn’t do the dietary supplements. He went through the process. He would go to the mosque and pray. He is still a Muslim.”

He thinks it’s possible that Thomas’s religious beliefs “played some type of part” in the attack on the rabbi’s home. He claimed that Thomas thought he was affiliated with the Crips and Bloods gang and that one time he called people from Brooklyn to come “put laser beams” on a neighbor’s house they thought was racist.

* Kennedy, the stepdad, said the family had roots in Guyana and they went to that country together when Thomas’s grandmother died. He said that Thomas’s mother was born in Guyana and came to Canada first as a child before settling in New York. Thomas was born in the U.S. and is a U.S. citizen, he said.

“At one time he said he was a Crip and Blood, and she was raising him in the city, and he was involved in gangs, so she moved upstate to get away from that atmosphere,” said Kennedy.

Asked if he was still in the gang, Kennedy alleged, “In his mindset, yes. He knows a lot of people. He would make a phone call and they would come and support him.”

Your "trustworthy sources" are full of crap, Doc. The perp is as much a "Nazi" as they are. Less would be my guess.
